I am an academic and scholar who holds both a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) and a MLitt (Master of Literature) from The University of Glasgow, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) honours degree from The University of Paisley. My first academic book 'Robert Taylor: Male Beauty, Masculinity and Stardom in Hollywood' (University Press of Mississippi, 2019) was shortlisted for the Best Monograph of the Year at BAFTSS Awards 2020 and my second academic book, 'Tyrone Power; Genre, Gender and Image in Classical Hollywood Cinema' (Edinburgh University Press, 2021) was released in February 2021. Among my other publications are chapters in anthologies for Palgrave Macmillan (2016) and Bloomsbury Academic (2021). I have contributed to several academic journals and been requested as a guest lecturer, guest speaker and reader/reviewer on several occasions. I am currently working on my next book, some academic papers for journals and chapters for scholarly edited collections.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that learning should be fun and in a relaxed atmosphere but at the same time academic and useful. My approach to teaching is to have the tutor and student both feel that they are getting a lot out of the experience and that the time is being well used. I will break down subjects into easily manageable blocks and make sure that my student understands the unit before moving on. I also like to vary my tutorials by having some in the form of lectures, some in the form of question and answers, some where I will give students feedback on homework they have done and suggestions to improve what they have done, etc.

I also find that on-line tuition is the best method and students can ask questions that they may not ask if they were face-to-face with someone, it is a much more relaxed approach but students get a lot out of it (and can save all the notes from lessons for use later on).

Infinitely extendable for the brightest to 13, 14, 15 20x tables; likewise can be simplified to 2x and 3x for those that need more time. Since early of 2019 I have taught Chinese in person and online across students of different abilities, e.g. Primary, GCSE, HSK and Adult learners. My focus is adapting to the teaching needs, learning styles and abilities of my students. As of recently, I have enjoyed tutoring my students online during the pandemic.

I start teaching online since early 2019.I had some regular students they have online Mandarin lesson at least once a week, we use new tool to practice what we need to learn. The result turns out very good.

I have a life long passion for art, painting and making.

I have been teaching art privately for over 10 years and established a small art school: Art Now - Banstead Art School which I have been running for 9 years in Surrey near London.

I have taught people of all ages (from 3 to 92!) and all abilities from beginners to assisting students to gain successful scholarship portfolios and coursework.

I have also facilitated many creative workshops such as theatrical life drawing and craft in different settings from schools to offices, public spaces and festivals.

Karina studied Art and Design at Chelsea Art College and has a BA Honours degree in Graphic Design and Photography from Kingston Univeristy.

After graduating, Karina co-ran creative, interactive public events for adults and children in London and Essex including monthly theatrical life drawing classes.

Karina has experience teaching and mentoring children of all ages including children with Special Educational Needs in school and out of school environments. Karina has an enhanced DBS certificate.

Karina has since also trained in Permaculture design, Catalysing Active Citizenship, Creative Practice Facilitation and completed the Forest School Level 3 training.
She works in schools and runs nature connection workshops for adults.

~ The basic principles of drawing, painting and design and sometimes craft work such as clay, collage, or printing.
~ Setting activities which use the right side of the brain for seeing in new ways.
~ Experimentation with media and ideas to get comfortable with using imagination, making and creating using different tools.
~ Supporting each student to push their limits of what they believe they can achieve.

I encourage exploration of a range of media and topics are primarily lead by the students personal interests.

I am a Maths teacher with 13 years experience , 6 of those as Head of Department. I am a fully qualified and registered teacher with the GTCW and have a current CRB check.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught Maths in schools in South Wales and Bristol. I have over 13 years experience as a maths teacher with 6 years as the Head of Maths. I currently teach maths at secondary level in South Wales up to and including A level. I have delivered all the content in the A level Mathematics syllabus. At GCSE, my results have always been excellent both when getting pupils to move up to an A* or for those on the C/D borderline to achieve a C grade.

Build confidence. Each pupil is different as such i tailor my tutoring to the individual's needs This depends on where each pupil is on their learning journey. I ensure that pupils have a comprehensive and practical grasp of mathematical concepts. After a good procedural grounding, we move on to working through reasoning and problem solving questions. This cements understanding and above all builds confidence.
