Lesson will consist of prepared notes which will be discussed during the tutoring sessions. There will be supported by use of worksheets and then exam style questions. Each lesson will be based on specific areas of the syllabus that is intended to support the work that is being undertaken in the classroom. This will follow the part of the syllabus being taught in the classroom, to support and re-inforce student learning.

I use videos to support learning and these will be showed used a laptop. I will use a projector (if it is possible). If the student wishes to only look at specific areas if the syllabus, then I will undertake to produce material to support this request.

I am an artist-teacher whose passion lies within nature and its use as a subject within art education. Exploring themes of organic matter, leaning towards natural history and science, I have a keen interest in the philosophy of Wabi-sabi and creating symmetrical imagery using objects that may be deemed imperfect, worthless or unattractive.

I studied Illustration at University and specialise in bookmaking, screen printing onto textiles and observational drawing.

Recently I have had an artist book on display at the Turner Contemporary in Margate, images displayed in CRATE, participated in projects with Dover Arts Development and had my work displayed alongside my students at the Sidney Cooper Gallery in Canterbury. My approach is open and relatively informal. I feel that tutoring works best when a relationship is established between myself and the student - they should feel free to ask questions, raise issues, and discuss any aspect of the work that interests them. It's very different to being taught in the classroom: in addition to individual attention, it also offers the opportunity to read and study texts not on the curriculum which can augment and strengthen the school syllabus. English is essentially a skills based subject. Although there is a lot of content to learn at both GCSE and A level, students benefit from being able to access and flexibly use the techniques needed to study and criticize. I previously worked in software engineering after studying my integrated masters in computer science and mathematics at the University of Sheffield in which I achieved a 2:1. My name is Kateryna and I am currently studying at Aston University, Birmingham where I am completing my Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience. Prior to my University studies, I attended Adams' Grammar School in Newport, Shropshire where I completed my A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. In addition to my studies at University, I work part-time as a domiciliary care worker, working with senior adults in their homes to ensure they live as independently as possible.

In terms of my interests outside of studying and working, I love all things outdoors- in particular walking and biking. In the summer months I take great joy in watersport activities such as, wakeboarding and bodyboarding.

Having experienced tutoring myself in both A-Level Chemistry and Physics, I have great insight into what I believe makes a good tutor and what tutees who do require additional support actually want from their tutor.
In my opinion, my approach to being a successful tutor is building confidence in tutees by exploring what they already are successful in to encourage the idea that requiring additional help is perfectly normal and nothing to be insecure about as they can already prove to themselves that they flourish already in other parts of academia. However, once we have identified areas of a subject that they feel not so confident in, my approach is to tackle the basics first, from which more detail can be brought about with ease.
