Teaching Experience:
I have taught through all the age ranges starting off as a Internationally Qualified Montessori Teacher, working right through to University level as an accelerated learning practitioner (I trained with Tony Buzan). My core specialism is Dyslexia and Special Needs. I have worked with home schooled children for many years as well as continuing to do regular home tutoring after school hours and some Saturday mornings. I still run Montessori workshops particularly for those involved in homehomeschooling. I am also a Qualified and Insured Naturopath and teach a wide variety of alternative health and well-being workshops, as in my experience, health and well being are directly related to the students ability to learn effectively; so many students who have experienced challenges in assimilating learning often are found to have some form of health or allergy issues. .

I do not do GCSE work, finding that any problems in this area usually have their roots in Key stage 1 -3.

I'm in my early sixties, married with four children and three Grandchildren aged 5-9 yrs. I have 40 years' experience of teaching all ages from pre-school (I used to child mind) to A level and FE students. I have been a loyal student to BCU, where I obtained, both my Fine Art degree and my MA in Art and Education Practice. Planning for my PhD research study too. My approach is open and relatively informal. English is essentially a skills based subject. Although there is a lot of content to learn at both GCSE and A level, students benefit from being able to access and flexibly use the techniques needed to study and criticize. I am a fully qualified secondary school English teacher and have previously worked for three London universities as a Specialist Study Skills and Academic Writing Tutor. I currently work with students in the east of England.

I support students with all aspects of their academic work. I help my students to plan and write their essays with confidence, stay on track with their academic reading and most importantly - reach their academic potential. I am an enthusiastic tutor in English, EFL and SEN. I am passionate about progressing individuals to achieve and exceed their educational expectations. I ensure my learners feel confident, motivated and inspired.

My love of languages has motivated me to learn Spanish and I am hoping this will let me access conversations when holidaying in Spain in the future.

I am a fluent Welsh speaker, having had a bilingual upbringing and education. In turn, this has given me a genuine interest in cultural aspects, not least in my love of poetry.
