My general approach to teaching is to enhance individual skills by providing an individual programme for the student. I have 40 years' experience of teaching all ages from pre-school (I used to child mind) to A level and FE students. I like to give personal attention to my tutees and to tailor the lessons to their needs but am happy to teach online up to 3 people together to reduce costs if that helps. We work on Language skills such as pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in ESOL lessons with plenty of practice for tests if needed and when studying literature at a higher level, I encourage my tutees to relate what they are reading to current issues and events in the world so that it is relevant and interesting for them. We have lots of fun but at the same time we work intensively, reading aloud to proof read and to practise using strategies for spelling, punctuation and organising essays etc. It is a great way to prepare for further academic study and I can help to prepare students for interviews or to give that all important presentation which could lead to promotion.
