I have a BSc in Psychology, an MA in Psychoanalysis and Philosophy, an MA in Languages and Translation, an MA in English Literature, and a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training. I have a 2:1 Degree in Modern Languages with Business (Spanish & Portuguese) from the University of Nottingham, having learned Spanish from the age of 13. I spent a year living in various parts of Spain, improving my conversational and business Spanish, as well as annual trips to Andalucía visiting relatives.

Teaching Experience:
During my year abroad at university, I spent 1 month working as a Teacher's Assistant at a school near Sevilla and more recently I've tutored the children of family friends at 11+ Level, GCSE and A-Level. In my previous employment, I also held monthly Spanish classes with colleagues to improve general conversational language.

Tutoring Approach:
I take an adaptable approach to teaching, tailoring each class to the needs of the student. Whether across reading, writing, listening or oral, I focus on ensuring time is spent efficiently so that the outcomes contribute to upcoming exams/tests/challenges etc. This is achieved through a collaborative effort that allows my students to understand and then repeat.

Bonjour, hola, hello! I am Laurence, a native French speaker and highly experienced, qualified teacher of French and Spanish with over 30 years' experience in secondary education.

I have taught both languages to A-Level since 1996 across the state and independent sectors, including 13 years as Head of Spanish at a leading selective grammar school in Buckinghamshire. During this time, students consistently achieved excellent GCSE and A-Level results.

My teaching has been recognised as outstanding, and I have also contributed to professional training focused on raising attainment and improving exam performance.

Alongside my school career, I have delivered thousands of hours of private tuition, supporting students from primary level through to university. I specialise in GCSE, iGCSE, and A-Level preparation, as well as selective entrance examinations, including ISEB Common Entrance, Eton CE, King's Scholarship, and Westminster 16+.
