Tutoring Approach:
I believe one to one private tuition requires a tutor who can adapt to the needs of the pupil. Ideally (although not crucially-entirely online is also possible) I would wish to meet the pupil initially to establish how they may best be assisted and what the pupil's key areas of concern are. Each mind, young or old, needs different approaches and I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs and requirements of every student.

My approach, in most cases would be to follow a curriculum, finding out where their difficulties lie within this curriculum and how it would be best to resolve them.

I tend to use past papers when it comes to exam based tuition as this is ultimately what they will be faced with come exam time! However, when I have a pupil for longer there is more scope for more imaginative teaching or simply assistance with difficult homework.

With each of my previous pupils I have needed and been able to assist them in a way that is individually appealing to them and I have never had a pupil who has not achieved their desired results.

I am mum to two boys, both who have flown the nest. I miss them greatly now that they are based in London but try to visit as much as I can. I love to shop and also exercise, especially pilates. Oh and I do love to cook!

Teaching Experience:
I studied at Dundee College of Education where I gained a Diploma in Primary Education. This was a three year course. I then took another Certificate in Early Years. After leaving College, I taught in both the state and private primary sector. I left teaching to have my children and then to nurse my youngest child who was quite sick for a few years. Whilst, as an English teacher, I do enjoy a good book, my main interest lies in physical activity. I am passionate about physical fitness and everything that comes with it: flexibility, mobility and nutrition.

I am a qualified, experienced teacher with a passion for supporting people to fulfill their potential. I am originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne but have recently relocated to West Yorkshire. When I am not teaching I enjoy yoga and nature walks.

Teaching Experience:
I have 6 years of experience in primary education. I have worked across both key stages, with three years of my experience in Key Stage 2 and three years in Key Stage 1. I am currently a leader of phonics and have expertise in the teaching of reading. I really enjoy building a rapport with my students to ensure they feel comfortable and secure. I always take the time to find out a student's current level of ability and confidence and then tailor my approach to suit this. I like to use a wide range of interactive resources. Rather than simply relying on worksheets I aim to include games, media, objects and speaking and listening activities in sessions to create variety and keep them stimulating. I have successfully taught students of all levels from complete beginner to immediate level and advanced speaking and business level Mandarin. My teaching is mainly 1 on a 1 basis, and the class content is tailored to each students needs. I can also teach groups of students if required.
