I also think grammar is an important part of learning Spanish language due to all of the verb conjugations and gender agreements etc. Homework is also important as doing a little each day is definitely one of the best ways to learn.

Tutoring Approach:
Although I learned all my foreign languages through a rigorous method very much based on writing and grammar, I am happy to adapt my method to my pupil's needs. Personally, I believe that conversation is the key to becoming fluent in a language, but at the same time I do not neglect the importance of writing and reading comprehension. I tend to do this from an early stage of the learning experience in order to make the student aware that the language they are learning is a live and real one, spoken by millions of people overseas. When teaching English as a Foreign Language, I motivate students to practice English outside the lesson environment and provide them with practical speaking skills. All this, of course, alongside the academic preparation for their exams.
I am an approachable teacher, and I like to create a comfortable learning environment where the student can build up his/her confidence to use the foreign language and 'take the risk' to speak Italian, Spanish or English. I began teaching Spanish as a volunteer in my university on 2015. I have always had a great interest in different cultures and languages. I really admire people who travel and work around the world, so in 2015-2016 I decided to teach Spanish voluntarily during the whole course (9 months) to those international people who came as an Erasmus to my University. After this academic course, I made my luggage and I went to the USA for the whole summer. As soon as I finished my stay in the USA, I came back to Poland where I continued my last year of university through a bilateral international agreement at the Poznan University of Medical Sciences. I was studying while I was working in 2 different institutions as a native Spanish teacher. On the one hand, I was working as a tenured Spanish native teacher at the "IBERIS online academy" for one year. On the second hand, I was working as support Spanish native teacher at the "Gniezno Institute" during the same academical year.

In conclusión, the last 2 years from 2015 I have been working as a native Spanish teacher in 4 different places, at the University in Spain, at Christian´s academy in the USA, at IBERIS online academy and Gniezno institute (Poland). And right now, I am working privately in Scotland.

Hello my name is Anne-Marie, I am from Ireland but have been living in the UK since 2004. This is now a place I call home. I realised I had a flare for imparting knowledge when I became a basketball trainer at 15, working with Primary and Secondary pupils. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, saw the progress the pupils I trained had made and knew from that moment that teaching was my vocation as it was and is so rewarding. From September this year I have been teaching English, Geography and RE at Beckfoot School in Bingley. I am a tutor as well (GCSE English, KS3 English, Maths and Science). As well as that, I am an EAL teacher to Chinese children online. In the past I have taught English up to GCSE at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy and English and French at Pudsey Grangefield School. In addition to this, l have taught Spanish and French at Carr Manor Community School. From February to December 2016, I was a teacher of French at Key Stage 3, Spanish at Key Stages 3 and 4 and was responsible for a Year 9 form at Queensbury School. From September 2015 to January 2016, I taught German at Key Stages 3 and 4 and French at Key Stage 3 at Oakbank School in Keighley. I previously worked at Rastrick High School and Sixth Form College where I was a teacher of French at Key Stage 3 and Spanish at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. I also taught German and PSHCE to Year 9 students, and Accelerated Reading to Year 7 pupils. Four years ago, I was a Year 11 form tutor. This role entailed planner signing, reading and guiding pupils on college and career choices as well as helping them with exam revision skills. During registration, I covered some PSHCE topics and encouraged my tutees to write reviews on the books they were reading in order to find out more about their interests and consequently get to know them better. My form was involved in fundraising activities and have participated in assemblies. As well as that, I have mentored a PGCE student on how to become a form tutor and in addition I had a GTP student in my Key Stage 3 and 4 Spanish classes. In 2015 whilst on maternity leave, I taught Spanish to Years 2 and 6 and French to Years 3 and 4 at a local Primary School on a voluntary basis.

I like to use an approach that suits the students I teach. I discuss what needs they have and what their interests are and work from there. I like to be well-prepared yet flexible when necessary. I like to do kineasthetic activities to keep the students engaged in their learning and use a variety of resources to enable my students to gain as much confidence when speaking, reading writing etc.

My name is Rochelle and I am a French, Spanish, German and English language tutor with seven years teaching experience. I have a BA (Hons) French and Spanish (1st) from Queen's University Belfast and a Master of Research degree (Distinction) in Arts and Humanities, focused on Spanish studies.

I teach French and Spanish to primary school, secondary school/GCSE and sixth-form students/A-level students and can provide support to university students on their language work. I offer German classes to primary school and secondary school/GCSE students, in addition to casual Spanish, French, and English (as a foreign language) classes to students of all ages.

Diligent and enthusiastic about my subjects, I was awarded the Queen's Scholarship Foundation for the highest academic achievement in French and Spanish within the year group in 2018. In 2021, I graduated with a distinction in French and Spanish oral and received the Xavier Giralt Prize and the Christopher Shorley Prize for exceptional academic performance in final year Spanish and for the highest mark in the core module of final year French respectively. Moreover, I was awarded the Bulletin of Spanish Studies Postgraduate Bursary as the student with the highest marks at undergraduate level to have been accepted for a master's in Spanish studies at Queen's.

Currently, I'm an ELA in the Universidad Surcolombiana, Neiva, Colombia. From September 2024, I will be taking a PGCE course in Modern Languages at the University of Oxford.

Teaching Experience:
I have a passion for modern languages and foreign cultures and have developed my knowledge of these during my travels. In 2019, I was a summer au-pair for a family in Auvergne. In July 2020, I studied French at the IEF, Montpellier for four weeks and was awarded a C1 certificate in the French language. I also worked as an English Language Assistant with students aged 3-18 in Asturias 2019-2020 and in Galicia 2022-2023.

From 2017-2018, I was a personal tutor at the Homework Clubs organisation which is run by Queen's. I helped young people with their languages homework and prepared them for their GCSEs and A-levels.

Everyone is different and so I make it my aim to get to know each student individually and adapt my teaching methods to their needs. I find out from every student what they need help with and what they want to achieve and then create a structured plan with them. I am bilingual in Italian and English after living in Italy for 20 years, I also am fluent in Spanish and French from learning those languages at school from the age of 7. I like to teach by combining text book based learning with practical use of the language I am teaching so for example a typical lesson might start with reviewing the exercises set out in a textbook such as answering a series of questions on a writing passage and then moving into a more conversational type of lesson where we would discuss our plans for the weekend in the language being taught or try some practical exercises such as making a plate of food using the language being taught.

I also offer computer studies lessons where I can t we achieve students how to use Microsoft Office software such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint or also more advanced packages and languages such as SQL and Power BI/Tableau.
