Hello my name is Anne-Marie, I am from Ireland but have been living in the UK since 2004. This is now a place I call home. I realised I had a flare for imparting knowledge when I became a basketball trainer at 15, working with Primary and Secondary pupils. I am a qualified native teacher of French and Spanish with UK QTS (qualified teacher status). My PGCE has enabled me to work in various secondary schools and colleges in England.

I have a life long interest in linguistics and studied this in depth as part of my English and Spanish degree at the university of Poitiers, as well as the Diploma in Translation.

I am often told that am kind and patient- I do believe these are necessary qualities as a tutor to create a trusting relationship with a young person.

I believe that learning needs to be achievable in order to increase confidence, this is especially true at the beginning of the tuition when I try to pitch the activities at the right level, before extending the student's further. .

I use zoom for online teaching, which enables me to share my screen, including for the purpose of watching videos or listening to extracts. After the lesson, I send the main exercise(s) completed by the student alongside useful annotations, which can be kept for future revision (screen images).

This is accompanied by a personalised report after each class including homework to consolidate any weak area highlighted during the lesson. This is very much appreciated by parents and students, creating a thread between lessons.
