I have 7 years experience working as a Spanish teacher in secondary schools in London including Alleyn's, Lady Margaret School and Kingsdale, teaching years 7 to 13. My exam classes have a very good track record. This year, my year 11 class are predicted 58% grades 9 to 8 and 100% 9 to 6, and my A Level class 63% A*-A and 88% A*-B. I attend regular training for various exam board: AQA/ Edexcel/ CIE (IGCSE / GCSE/ IB) and A level) and 13+ Common Entrance.

Tutoring Approach:
During my lessons, I focus on speaking in order to quickly improve Listening and Oral skills.. Initial assessment will highlight the student's strong and weak areas which I incorporate into my planning.

I am often told that am kind and patient- I do believe these are necessary qualities as a tutor to create a trusting relationship with a young person. Progress will happen quickly as I know how to apply recognized teaching methods.

I have a particular interest in grammar and ensure that clear explanations are followed by independent practice.

I believe that learning needs to be achievable in order to increase confidence, this is especially true at the beginning of the tuition when I try to pitch the activities at the right level, before extending the student's further. .

I use zoom for online teaching, which enables me to share my screen, including for the purpose of watching videos or listening to extracts. After the lesson, I send the main exercise(s) completed by the student alongside useful annotations, which can be kept for future revision (screen images).

This is accompanied by a personalised report after each class including homework to consolidate any weak area highlighted during the lesson. This is very much appreciated by parents and students, creating a thread between lessons.
