During the last two decades I have worked with many hundreds of students and have read research studies from academics around the world on the subject of attainment in mathematics. My own experience is in keeping with all the studies I have read about this topic. The overwhelming majority of students can do well in mathematics provided they have the confidence, the techniques and willingness to work hard. Even after only six to eight weeks of tuition, all the students I have tutored have improved by at least one grade or one level.

I tell all prospective pupils there is no magic bullet or shortcut. To achieve success in mathematics a few things are key: understanding the concept well; understanding when and how to apply it in different situations; lots of practice in applying it in different scenarios and short, regular revision sessions. I am a Turkish Cypriot and I am quite familiar to the GCSE and A-level curriculum. Apart from my academic background I'd like to address couple more stuff I have in my life. First off I have to state that I love learning and teaching new stuff, and also I believe teaching is the older brother of learning; as you can not say that you have learned something deeply if you are unable to teach it to someone that does not know it; like I play chess and have been the 6th table player of my municipality's chess team. Even though I have attended many many games with that team I was not aware of the fact that thinking simple would actually be a benefit in any game, and I realized this when last year I have aided an association's chess team in stars category as an educator. When working with youngsters that are looking at the game much simpler than you do, you have to match their energy and try to predict what obstacles may get in their way, and I believe this working experience improved me quite a bit in that matter. From a young age, I was fascinated by Physics. This bright curiosity fueled me to the International Physics Olympiad, where I won the Silver Medal twice in a row, alongside dozens of medals and special awards from other international competitions, such as the European Physics Olympiad or the Asian Physics Olympiad.

7 years ago, I decided to share my love for Physics with other students, so I became a private tutor. So far, I have worked with students of all ages and difficulties. From students with difficulties to students who wanted to be selected for the International Olympiad. From middle school up to the university level.

All my students saw tremendous progress, with many rising from the bottom of the class to the top, and others dominating the rankings of the most challenging Physics competitions.

Hii, I am Stefan. I'm an International Olympian in Physics, looking to share my passion for Physics, and all the secret strategies I've used so far to master any type of exam or competition.

I have been an independent private tutor for over 7 years and have helped over 200 students all around the world. My students had a wide range of ages, from 10 years old, to 45. Exams, boosting grades, help with homework, olympiad training, or just learning for fun - my sessions are very versatile.

Tutoring Approach:
Physics can feel very stressful and overwhelming when you are not understanding the principles behind it, and you are just trying to memorize formulas and sample problems. That's a dangerous approach.

First, you have to actually understand the principles (not just memorize them). Once you understand them, you can solve any type of problem, any type of exam, without needing to endlessly practice sample problems.

During our sessions, I will quickly assess where you are, and where you need to be, to accomplish your Physics goals.

Then, you will feel like you are effortlessly pulled towards your goal, while actually understanding what you're doing.

Session by session, you will feel like a big weight is being dropped from your shoulders, and you will blaze with confidence through every problem.

You will develop a new way of thinking, that will massively help you in all academic endeavors, and later down your life.

Dr. Catherine is a dedicated scientist and educator whose career spans advanced academic research, science education, and personal tutoring. With a deep-rooted passion for physics and its applications, she has combined her expertise in experimental and applied science with her vocation to inspire the next generation of learners.

Born with an early curiosity for the natural world, Catherine pursued her studies in physics with determination. She earned her B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Physics from Wroclaw University, where she explored the growth of metals on alloy surfaces. Her doctoral research, "Growth of Pb on Ni3Al(111)", reflected her keen ability to investigate materials at the atomic level. She later expanded her academic journey at Warwick University, completing a second Ph.D. in Physics on "Growth and Characterisation of Metal Alloy and Metal Oxide Surfaces." Her work contributed to advancing the understanding of thin-film growth and nanostructures, leading to several publications in respected international journals. Among her noted contributions are studies on ultrathin metal layers, titanium dioxide films, and surface morphology, establishing her reputation as a careful and innovative experimentalist.

After years in research, Catherine transitioned into education, determined to share her scientific knowledge in a way that would have a direct impact on young people. She completed a PGCE with QTS at the University of Winchester, equipping her with the pedagogical foundation to teach science across all secondary school levels.

Beyond her teaching, Catherine remains connected to her research roots. She has authored and co-authored several publications, including contributions to Applied Surface Science and Materials. These works, ranging from the structural determination of metallic surfaces to the optimisation of thin-film growth, illustrate her ongoing identity as both a teacher and a scientist.

She embraced opportunities beyond the classroom, leading enrichment activities in CAD and crafts, coordinating SilverCrest Awards, and supporting students in employment readiness. At King's Academy Bay House, she brought her expertise in physics and broader sciences to pupils while nurturing Year 10 learners as a tutor.
