Teaching Experience:
Since 2010, I have been tutoring in the academic subjects Maths and the individual Sciences; Biology, Chemistry & Physics.

I have taught at both primary- and secondary-school levels, with my students ranging between the ages of 6 and 16.

I can also help with entrance examinations for secondary school (including verbal and non-verbal reasoning), and I have provided mentorship and coaching when it comes to UCAS application forms, personal statements and CV writing.

Whilst I enjoyed some of the subjects at school, certain subjects and topics (including Maths!) didn't come naturally to me. I achieved 7A*s and 5A*s at GCSE, and went on to study Biology, Chemistry & Maths at A-Level.

As I have already mentioned, I have a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and my tutoring approach is a student-centred one. My experiences covers tutoring, mentoring and coaching and I use a combination of the three in my work.

I am yet to come across a student who doesn't possess the potential to improve. More often than not, it is the large class sizes at school, or a teacher whose approach isn't the right fit, which explains why a student doesn't understand a particular subject, or particular topics within that subject.

Hi, my name is Maahi, and I am currently a student at St Dominic's 6th form, studying Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at a level. I received an outstanding set of GCSE grades and my set of results was even published in the school newspaper. I like helping younger students in any way possible, in year 10, I helped those who have come from foreign countries or have a lower reading level and have difficulty reading to become fluent readers through a 'reading buddies' programme. That was when I realised that I am good at teaching and helping students. After that I tutored the younger children in family and friends and helped them get amazing grades for SAT'S and gcse's and I want to extend this to everyone that wants to receive good grades and achieve their dreams. So now, i want to put my knowledge to some use- hence why i am here.

Teaching Experience:
I received 5 grade-8's in my Gcse's this year, including Biology, Chemistry, physics, maths, english literature, and 4 grade-7's in french, history, further maths, english language. My revision techniques are clearly effective and want to help students who want to learn and set their goals in life. I can also help with giving advice for a levels as I am currently studying biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at a level myself. There are multiple different ways to learn and I can help find the right way to learn for you. After having tutored many of my friends and family in the younger years, I realised that I have a passion for teaching as I can make even the most mediocre thing interesting and understandable. I am a graduate in Physics from University College London (UCL) and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Science (Medical Physics) at King's College London (KCL) as part of the Scientist Training Programme. Tutored online for 4 years and tutored with Explore Learning for 1 year in person and online both. I tutored GCSE to a level maths and Physics.

Tutoring Approach:
Initial lesson for mathematics involves an assessment - this can be through a past exam paper. This allows me to determine what level the student is working at currently and also what topics need to be focused on more than others. From this I pick a topic to base the next lesson on. The lesson compromises of exam questions and taught material.

For physics I ask the student which exam board they are studying and which topic to focus on for the first session. I then plan a lesson on the topic by doing a question-answer session (It will be like recapping then topic with the student through questions used to prompt their memory). Normally questions are in flash card form. Then for the second half of the session I do exam questions from the exam board the student told me. These are topic based so each lesson will have questions focused on what was covered on the day. I send the notes from the lessons to the student as pdf files too. I write reports after I complete a lesson so parents know what the lesson covered and what to expect for upcoming sessions too. The more fluent a student becomes in answering questions- that shows progress is being made.

Personal Description:
I followed my passion for understanding the world around me into science to become a cosmologist. Talking about scientific concepts and their connections, and passing on the torch, is just the best.

Through my master's degree at Perimeter Institute I have acquired a strong background in theoretical and mathematical physics. In my PhD at UCL I focused on statistical methods for astronomical data analysis of big cosmology surveys. I worked as a post-doctoral research assistant for 2.5 years on projects across weak gravitational lensing and supernova cosmology, with a stronger focus on machine learning methods. I also worked as a data scientist for the private sector for a few months.

In my five years of experience as full-time private tutor for physics and mathematics I have worked with many students on a variety of subjects, including the following:
