During the last three decades I have worked with numerous students and have read research studies from academics around the world on the subject of attainment in mathematics. My own experience is in keeping with all the studies I have read about this topic. The overwhelming majority of students can do well in mathematics provided they have the confidence, the techniques and willingness to work hard. Even after only six to eight weeks of tuition, all the students I have tutored have improved by at least one grade or one level.

I tell all prospective pupils there is no magic bullet or shortcut. To achieve success in mathematics a few things are key: understanding the concept well; understanding when and how to apply it in different situations; lots of practice in applying it in different scenarios and short, regular revision sessions. So my only pre-conditions before I agree to work with any student are: a positive attitude; a commitment to put in the time and effort required to bring about the improvement in their grades; and at least one ninety minute session every week.

It is important to me that students should enjoy mathematics and look forward to their sessions with me. To ensure this I use a variety of different resources to explain concepts to students and am a firm believer in using physical and computer based study tools and aides to complement the standard oral and written tools used to teach mathematics. I also believe in linking the mathematics that we study to the real world to increase students' engagement with the topic and their understanding of its relevance. I am very patient and empathetic to my student's needs and once they develop in confidence I encourage all my students to challenge themselves regularly. I have a BEng (Hons) Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oxford Brookes University and have A-levels in Mathematics, Physics and Physical Education. Following my graduation I secured a junior project engineering position at a company in the Oil and Gas Industry in 2007. I progressed into a project management role within 3 years of starting my career and I have subsequently been a Project Manager and Project management consultant for large engineering and construction companies in the Oil, Gas and Energy industries, including Schlumberger and Koch Industries. However, over the last few years I have become increasingly aware and concerned about the impact of my industry on climate change and I have become very interested in contributing to society in a more constructive manner. I have extensive experience in tutoring students in Physics with unqualified success. My methodologies in teaching and learning builds thinking skills, recall of knowledge and hence problem solving This is crucial to success in Physics.
I provide all materials; notes for learning a topic, consolidation questions and exam past paper questions. These are all stored digitally on a cloud based platform and students can access them at any time and therefore are a great resource for revision.
I offer both face to face tuition and online. I have a very professional online set up which I have developed over the past 4 years. I have had extensive and very positive feedback on the set up. I pay monthly for the set up but my students have free access to it at any time.

I have over 20 years of tutoring experience and specialise in AQA/ OCR A Level Physics and Edexcel Maths. I also teach both subjects for GCSE. I have a First Class Honours degree in Electrical Engineering and a BA in Maths. I am a MIEE and a CEng.

I have been tutoring maths and physics for over 20 years, full time for the past 10 years. I teach AQA, Edexcel, OCR(A) and WJEC. I teach both UK and international students and my focus is sound principles and building student motivation to achieve excellent examination results.

My approach is to build lessons around the very latest past paper questions pertinent to the requirements of each student. I focus on exam technique, strategy and question trends for each board.

I am a Biomedical Master's student with a First-class BSc. in Biochemistry. I studied Maths (A*), Biology (A*), and Chemistry (A) at A-level. I offer well-rounded Maths and Science tuition geared towards the UK syllabus at competitive rates, and have a passion for life sciences.

Teaching Experience:
I have over 7 years of experience working as a private tutor, and have taught Maths, Biology and Chemistry to students ranging from KS3 to A-level. I also teach Physics to GCSE level. I also have worked as a volunteer mentor in my secondary school, helping children learn how to study and do exam preparation, and have worked as a mentor for Zero Gravity, providing university entrance advice and feedback on personal statements.

I believe learning works best when it feels more like a conversation, which is why I use the Socratic method. It's centred on asking questions and encouraging curiosity, guiding a student step by step so they discover the ideas, patterns and solutions themselves. My lessons are structured but never rigid. I adapt to each student's needs, set clear goals, and create a supportive space where it's okay to make mistakes and learn from them.
