- How long is your waiting list?

My after school, evening and weekend lessons have a 2-3 year waiting list. This can fluctuate according to the number of Year 11 students staying on for sixth form, the number of siblings starting lessons and requests for extra lessons from my current students. I always recommend students join my waiting list in Year 7 to ensure a slot for GCSE. However I understand this isn't always possible and I'll always try where I can to accommodate you.

- What does a typical lesson involve?

This completely depends on the individual student! I'm very lead by the aspirations, ability and talents of all the wonderful students I teach.

In general we go through the specification of their particular qualifications in detail and then attempt the relevant exam question booklets I put together. Kinaesthetic learners love my box of molecules! Every lesson has a positive and productive atmosphere to boost my student's confidence and help them achieve their individual potentials.

When she was teaching myself and my brother A Level Chemistry, she always gave short, concise explanations of concepts in a way that we easily understood. Highly recommend!!! Ellie has genuinely been the best chemistry teacher I have had, she is also an examiner which is a great help as her knowledge is always up to date not only with content but also exam questions and mark schemes. She explains the chemistry in as much detail as you need as opposed to the majority of teachers who focus more on memorisation and wrote learning. So you have a good understanding (which is the best teaching style as exam questions can require a lot of application.) Clearly each student is different, and so the way of teaching each one will be different. However I believe that if the foundation is strong nothing can go wrong. I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I believe that the best way to learn is to see how any problem can be tackled, go through the thought process and then apply what you know to the specific problem and solve it.

I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.

From previous experiences I believe the key areas students need help in are:
- learning the foundation of the subject
- how to manage time in exams
- how to structure their answers in an exam
- lots and lots of practice
Hopefully once we start tutoring, the students will feel much more confident with the subject and the key to success for any exam is self confidence. I will always be their as a guide, a mentor, a friend to help them through what they find difficult.

Teaching Experience:
I help younger people as a private tutor towards GCSE and A-levels in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics (Pure and Mechanics) - either in person or on;ine.

I help students with attaining the grades they need to continue their studies into the 6th form or for entry into their chosen University to study subjects such as mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, chemistry, biomedical sciences, etc. Testimonials are available on request.

Tutoring Approach:
I provide strategies to help students manage the stresses of exams. This includes time management in exams and methods to maximise marks in exams in such a way to give the student confidence during any given paper.

Primarily, I undertake one-to-one tuition either in person or online. I enjoy working to improve their understanding and learning - giving them confidence to tackle the various aspects of the subject matter with confidence and efficiency.

I focus on their weaker areas of any given subject whilst reinforcing the aspects where they are already comfortable.
