I'm a highly experienced Head of Physics & Science, with over 40 years of dedicated teaching at leading secondary schools. My expertise spans GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, and IB Physics (SL & HL). I've also contributed to the educational landscape by examining and writing exams for these qualifications and by training other physics teachers globally. I've observed a growing trend of students taking Physics without strong mathematical foundations, which can significantly hinder their progress. To address this, I offer specialised 'Maths for Physics' tuition. My experience shows that a solid grasp of the required maths can improve a student's final grade by up to two levels, helping them unlock their full potential in Physics.

Teaching Experience:
I have three years' experience conducting tutorials in Materials Science at Cambridge University, having myself studied Natural Sciences there, including Physics and Chemistry.

In 2018, I taught the Maths and Physics component of the NCC International Foundation Programme for Engineers (of around GCSE/A-level level) at the Star Exeter language school.

Since then I have tutored Physics, Chemistry and Maths from KS3 up to A-level, and Biology to GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy showing you real-world applications of what we are studying. In our lessons, we will draw diagrams and break problems down into bite-size steps, and I will train you to ask yourself helpful questions such as "What do I already know?", "Is this a sensible answer?" and "Did I expect those units?".

I am used to sympathetically coaching young people in unfamiliar skills, having also been the principal teacher for a university folk dance club for five years.

I am a current A-Level student, studying Chemistry, Biology, Maths, and Business at sixth form. I want to help students achieve their academic goals, and I believe I can work well with students at a variety of levels. I believe I am friendly and approachable and I want to motivate and empower students to help them become the best that they can be.

Teaching Experience:
I currently work as a teaching assistant at a primary school, and I have taught and worked with children up to the age of 15, having experience in teaching at GCSE level and below. I have mentored younger students at my school for several years, and have also worked with family friends and relatives. This has mainly been in English, Maths and Sciences.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is tailored to each individual student depending on their particular strengths and weaknesses. I set clear and simple tasks with steady progression and try to always make it fun and interesting, as I believe learning can be a process of enjoyment and a source of satisfaction. I find out what they struggle with, and help them iron out any issues they have in the subject. I ensure I cater and adapt towards their needs specifically, as I believe it is important that they are gaining a full personalised experience from tutoring.

I am a practicing UK Pharmacist with years of experience teaching all three sciences. I'm also a full time Science secondary school teacher, teaching Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
