I graduated in medicine from Nottingham University in 2016, switched to finance, became a qualified chartered accountant, and now work for one of the 'Big4' in health advisory and strategic consulting. However, my heart will always lie with the sciences, and somehow in amongst all of my wide ranging career, my favourite job has always been teaching.

For many years now, I have found great joy and passion in teaching and mentoring. I work exclusively online via Zoom, with a shared interactive whiteboard, structured homework, and direct email communication between sessions.

Each engagement begins with a diagnostic session. I assess the student's current level, identify the specific gaps in their understanding, and build a tailored programme from there. Every student receives a strategy designed around their syllabus and their individual goals.

Typical sessions combine targeted concept work and past-paper practice. Between lessons, homework is prepared and shared on the whiteboard; I follow up by email once it is ready. Progress is reviewed continuously, and the plan is adjusted accordingly.

My students are expected to invest effort between sessions and complete their homework. I work with a small, carefully selected cohort of students each term. I have taught Physics at all school levels for 25 years. I have been the head of Science faculty in an East Renfrewshire school for over 10 years.
Additionally I work for Qualification Scotland, formerly SQA, and Education Scotland in assessment moderation, exam question writing, writing courses and the marking of candidate exam papers. This has been for Physics at all levels from National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher.
The knowledge I have gained from this allows me to empower students with the best strategies to maximise their marks in assessments.

Teaching Experience:
I am a very experienced school Physics teacher and have been the faculty head of Science for over 10 years in an East Renfrewshire school. I was also previously the Head of the Physics department at another school near Glasgow.
Whilst at these schools I led the development of teaching strategies and student materials that have supported all learners to obtain the best possible grades. Our results improved progressively over the years in both schools.
