After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. Clearly each student is different, and so the way of teaching each one will be different. However I believe that if the foundation is strong nothing can go wrong. I will first try to ensure that the concept and the base of the subject is strong before we go on to a number of past paper questions and exercises. I believe that the best way to learn is to see how any problem can be tackled, go through the thought process and then apply what you know to the specific problem and solve it.

I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.

From previous experiences I believe the key areas students need help in are:
- learning the foundation of the subject
- how to manage time in exams
- how to structure their answers in an exam
- lots and lots of practice
Hopefully once we start tutoring, the students will feel much more confident with the subject and the key to success for any exam is self confidence. I will always be their as a guide, a mentor, a friend to help them through what they find difficult.

At Tuteria, I developed Mathematics questions and worked solutions for 11+, IGCSE and SAT, and taught GRE Quantitative Reasoning.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is patient, supportive and focused on understanding rather than memorisation. I first identify the areas where a student needs support and adapt each lesson to their individual needs and learning style.

I break difficult topics into manageable steps, using clear explanations, worked examples and practice questions. I encourage students to explain their reasoning so I can identify and address gaps in their understanding.

For examination preparation, I use exam-style questions, worked solutions and problem-solving techniques to help students become more confident and effective in tackling unfamiliar questions.

My goal is to help students understand the subject, build confidence and become independent learners.
