I graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2003 and a year later completed my post graduate certificate in Education at the same university. I have taught in 3 secondary schools in Buckinghamshire and Derbyshire.

I currently teach all GCSE sciences as well as Year 12 and Year 13 A Level Chemistry at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. I am a designated Advanced Skills Teacher; recognition of my outstanding classroom practice and the excellent results that this generates for the young people I teach. I work for the Cambridge International Exam Board, being an experienced marker of A Level chemistry. My name is Marcia, and I am a PhD student in biomedical engineering. My project uses mathematical modelling to determine the optimal conditions for in vitro testing of new therapeutic agents. This project combines techniques and principles from mathematics, biology, physics and engineering. I received a studentship from the EPSRC to fund my studies. I am also a graduate with an MEng degree in Biomedical Engineering, awarded with first-class honours, from the University of Glasgow. I have a passion for mathematics and the sciences, and have always excelled in these subjects. My final year project for my MEng degree combined my skills in maths, physics and biology, and was based on the mathematical modelling of antibody drug therapy. I believe especially in encouraging young women and girls to find enjoyment and fulfilment from STEM subjects, although of course, boys are also welcome! I received three different scholarships during my undergraduate degree: the Allan Glen Scholarship, the William Wilson Scott Scholarship, and a scholarship through the Women's Engineering Society.

I have a Bachelor of Engineering honours degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering.

Teaching Experience:
I started teaching in 2018 specialising in Maths and Physics from gcse up-to A level. I taught full time at two different schools in South Africa before i relocated to the UK 2 months ago and during that time i also had an opportunity to offer private tutoring sessions both physical and online to some students across the globe.

I provide tuition to students using a friendly and relaxed approach to tutoring. My tutoring sessions are customised to meet the specific requirement of each student. Generally, I find pleasure in teaching and I use a combination of computer and 'white board' based approach, for creating informal interactive / discussion type sessions, with some form of regular tests and re-cap sessions.

From a young age, I was fascinated by Physics. This bright curiosity fueled me to the International Physics Olympiad, where I won the Silver Medal twice in a row, alongside dozens of medals and special awards from other international competitions, such as the European Physics Olympiad or the Asian Physics Olympiad.

7 years ago, I decided to share my love for Physics with other students, so I became a private tutor. So far, I have worked with students of all ages and difficulties. From students with difficulties to students who wanted to be selected for the International Olympiad. From middle school up to the university level.

All my students saw tremendous progress, with many rising from the bottom of the class to the top, and others dominating the rankings of the most challenging Physics competitions.
