I was awarded a First Class Honours degree from University College London in 1997 and went on to study a PhD in Quantum Mechanics. On successful completion of my PhD in 2001 I started work at Thales Research and Technology (TRT) where I led projects on Adaptive Learning Systems and Information Management. I initiated the first programme to span the three TRT laboratories in France, Netherlands and UK in the area of Cognitive Systems research. I then went on to set up and lead a large collaborative team between TRT and University of Surrey to study remote collaboration technologies. I joined General Dynamics United Kingdom Limited in 2005, primarily to ensure exploitation of DIF DTC technologies into the UK Ministry of Defence Equipment Programme. I received my Chartered Physicist status in 2004 and am now a director.

Teaching Experience:
Several students have improved by more than 4 grades after just six months of tuition with me, and commonly students improve by at least one or two grades. Many of my students who previously had lost their passion for Maths and Physics, go on to take these subjects to a further level. Apart from the usual syllabuses I am experienced at teaching students the Maths section of the SATs and ACTs in order to get scholarships to American Universities.

First - THE CONCEPTS.
Most of the students consider physics the most difficult subject they have ever taken. That`s why I apply extra effort to make sure that the student has a proper understanding of the concepts, not just memorizing facts. I easy detect weak spots in students understanding and this gives me chance to focus on the most relevant topics.

Second - INTERACTIVE AND ENGAGING LESSON.
I carefully prepare myself for each session, and my goal is to make the student involved in the lesson not just leaving him to listen to me.I use software for interactive simulations. Believe me, it helps a lot if the student can actually see and play with different physical phenomena instead of just imagining it.

Third - PRACTICE:
Part of my lesson will be devoted to solving problems from past papers. I might either solve the problems by myself or monitor the student solving approach.
I will explain some tricks and perhaps show you more efficient solutions. My observation is that if the student goal is to achieve an A grade it requires at least two hours of tutoring per week throughout the academic year, of course, some students ask for more. In any case, it will give me great pleasure to help you improve your knowledge and make you feel the beauty of PHYSICS.

After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. I have experience tutoring one to one close friends and family but I believe I am suited to further tutoring since I already have quite a lot of experience in supporting and facilitating young people in scouting since I am an experienced scout leader in the Winchester district. I also would say I have a recent and relevant understanding of the GCSE syllabus and examinations, especially in the sciences since I am currently taking a Bsc Environmental Science degree and my passion for science has only grown since I took my GCSE's.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring will be adapted specially to each student, depending on how they prefer to be taught but also recognizing weaknesses in the syllabus and working on those until overall confidence is build. I hope to teach in a creative, interactive way that will not only build confidence in the syllabus but also in exam technique and exam nerves too, especially for GSCE students. I am happy to teach all exam boards of combined Science GSCE and the sciences separately too.
