Information About David:

Personal Description:

I am a recent maths PhD graduate from the University of Sheffield. I have also done a PGCE in secondary mathematics education. I did my masters and undergraduate in Mathematics and Philosophy at the University of Oxford, and have A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, English Literature and History.

Teaching Experience:

I have ten years of experience in mathematics teaching and tutoring. On top of experience in private tutoring, I have a PGCE in secondary mathematics education, and taught mathematics to undergraduates during my PhD. I have also designed and conducted workshops / mock interviews to prepare students for university entrance exams.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is very flexible, as I feel it's important to be able to adapt to suit the needs of different students. The most important thing to remember when tutoring (particularly when tutoring a subject like mathematics or physics) is to help pupils properly understand the topics they're studying rather than just expecting them to learn things by rote. This enables them to attack new problems when they come across them, and is more likely to foster genuine passion and enthusiasm for the subject.
