I am Ian, a friendly and enthusiastic mathematician, a former teacher of maths and physics A Levels while living on the south coast of England, now relocated to Glasgow. I believe that there is much beauty to be found in mathematics and science and try to convey this appreciation alongside the technical skills required to get you through your exams. These subjects don't have to be the impenetrable list of technicalities they are often portrayed as!

Maths is one of the hardest subjects to bluff your way through, and although it's possible to scrape by with a passing acquaintance of the concepts involved, you will never do particularly well without a deeper understanding of the subject. I started my career as a Chemical Engineer and completed my PhD in that subject.

As a recently retired Chartered Engineer I'm looking to help students to improve, and gain confidence in, their maths or science skills. This might be helping with subjects that the student finds difficult, catching up with missed work, assisting with coursework, or stretching a budding genius
