I'm a qualified science teacher and Head of Science based in London, who currently teaches in a secondary school to students aged 11-18. I teach all sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) to KS3 and GCSE (Edexcel and AQA specification), and teach A-Level Biology (OCR specification). I have worked within education for the past 10 years and really love working with young people to inspire them to achieve the best they can. After completing my D.Phil from the University of Oxford, I worked for 7 years as a Senior Biologist for a small drug discovery company where I was responsible for screening new drug targets in tissue models for human disease. Over the years I've had so many comments from students/colleagues about my ability to break subjects down to ease understanding, and coupled with my passion for science and sharing that with others I decided to change career and become a full-time science tutor. While I am happy to meet face to face, I find that online tutoring works equally well and has the advantage of being able to record sessions that can be used by the student when revising. For many years now, I have found great joy and passion in teaching and mentoring. I believe that being a good tutor involves more than just teach content; rather it involves introducing students to ways in which they can find new joy and enjoyment for the subjects whilst also offering mentoring and pastoral support for students and that is the kind of service that i ensure to deliver to all of my students. During my years of tutoring, I have honed my tutoring and mentoring skills to help KS3, GCSE, and A Level students achieve their full potential. With over 7 years of teaching experience, I have a proven track record of inspiring students to exceed their goals.

Teaching Experience:
As an experienced mentor and tutor, I have helped numerous pupils achieve academic success and pursue their dreams of becoming medical professionals. Over the course of 7 years, I have dedicated over 250 hours to tutoring challenging concepts in GCSE Maths and Science, as well as A Level Biology and Chemistry.

All of my students have seen an improvement of 2 or more grades, and every student has continued tuition with me after a first session. I take pride in guiding students through the difficult application processes and reviewing their personal statements, with a proven track record of helping them gain acceptance into medical school, psychology, and chemistry programs at leading universities.

In Summer 2019-2022, 100% of my pupils went from D/E grades to A*-B grades, demonstrating my ability to help students achieve their full potential. I am fortunate enough to have mentored and tutored previous students who have excelled in their A-Levels and have gone on to pursue medical degrees at the very same institution where I am studying.

My expertise has also been recognised by a leading research-intensive university in the UK, where I was appointed as a University Widening Participation Fellow in 2021/22. In this role, I provided teaching and mentoring for aspiring medical students aged 9-17 years old both online and in-person.

Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approach is personalised, friendly, and engaging. Each lesson begins with a thorough review of the topic, including key concepts, and ample opportunities for students to ask questions. To ensure mastery of the subject, students are provided with high-yield exam questions and worksheets to complete, which we mark together to identify areas of strength and improvement.

My lessons focus on exam technique and effective study habits, two vital components of academic success. I teach students how to use evidence-based techniques such as active recall and spaced repetition to effectively retain information and review it strategically throughout the year.

I provide all students with specialised notes, revision questions, and exam questions tailored to their exam board, free of charge. In addition, assessments are provided every 4-6 weeks to track progress and identify areas for improvement.

But my commitment to my students goes beyond the "hour slot." I am available to answer questions and provide support via phone, email, and messaging. And I never clock-watch during lessons. I am fortunate to have also acquired a team and network of private tutors and professionals from many diverse fields and careers, all of which are happy to offer tuition and mentoring if necessary.
As the pandemic has changed the way we approach education, I have adapted my teaching methods to ensure continuity of learning for my students. Since COVID-19, I have accrued over 300 hours of online teaching and mentoring experience via Zoom and Microsoft Teams, providing a safe and convenient way for students to learn from the comfort of their own homes.

With digital copies of all teaching resources, including notes, homework booklets, and question papers, I am fully equipped to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning environment for my pupils. My priority is always student satisfaction, and I strive to ensure that every student feels supported and confident in their abilities.

Since graduating from King's College, Cambridge in 2013, I have been a dedicated full-time professional maths tutor.

I offer a **free 30-minute** introductory class to all new students so we can get to know each other and the technology we'll be using before committing to anything! I have over 7,000 hours of online tutoring experience, so I am well placed to work either online, or in person at my office space in Hoxton where I also run classes and mock exams.

For those looking to achieve the top grades, I can offer my experience in fine-tuning exam technique, as well as giving insight and tutoring in more advanced papers (TMUA, ESAT, STEP). I also offer personal and informative preparatory advice for those students applying to Oxbridge.

On the flip side I have seen that the teaching of maths and science in the classroom can sometimes leave students feeling dejected, uninterested, and even unable, often sapping their confidence. Through my tutoring I aim to rebuild this confidence and unlock each student's true potential. Together we can fill gaps in understanding, consolidate material, get ahead of the syllabus and ultimately strive towards better grades.

Being lucky enough to go to Cambridge, I was blown away by the power of small group teaching, having been used to large classes my whole life. I could not believe the amount it was possible to progress in each guided supervision. It's a privilege to be able to provide such a service myself, for my students.

Tutoring Approach:
Learning happens best one on one. I take a very informal, interactive, animated and personable approach to teaching. This is not school, we don't have rules. This is a place to learn and excel. It's all the good bits of the Cambridge supervision system without any of the formality or anxiety.

My lessons are either online or in person at my office space at Hoxton. In some circumstances I can travel but this will incur an additional fee.
