I am a professional freelance trumpet player. Leigh is a professional drummer, musician and teacher based in London, UK with years of live, studio and tuition experience behind him.

Leigh started playing drums at the age of 14 in Bournemouth, UK after many years listening to and obsessing over classic rock and heavy metal, playing his first show with a band after only about 2 weeks of having owned a drumset. After playing in several local rock bands around the area, Leigh began to study drums at school with the now iconic Tony Nash before heading to the University of Warwick in 2007, and studying drums at an advanced level with world-renowned players and educators such as Benny Greb, Thomas Lang, Derek Roddy, Tommy Igoe and Travis Orbin. It was at this time that he also began taking on students of his own, teaching around the West Midlands and also giving workshops and demonstrations at the University.

After this period of intensive and passionate study, Leigh graduated in 2011 and was immediately welcomed into The Rhythm Studio faculty where he quickly rose to become one of the principal staff in the drum department, teaching private drum lessons to numerous students spanning a wide age, interest and ability spectrum.

Launched in late 2012, the drum stream of The Rhythm Studio's new flagship Rock & Pop Academy courses have been taught and assessed exclusively by Leigh, with much of the material being modelled on his own personal teaching method. The students on this course have progressed astonishingly well, and under his guidance Leigh's private students continue to excel, with a 100% pass rate with Distinction for all grade exams taken after tuition with Leigh.

Whilst he continues to share his knowledge, away from education Leigh's primary focus is his progressive metal band, Beneath Dead Waves, which he co-founded. After years of composition and cultivation, Beneath Dead Waves will release its debut album Inertia in Q3 of 2013, with a full supporting UK tour.

Leigh also composes and performs with London-based rock outfit Hellcat Molly,who have an EP in the works, and has also performed several recording and live session duties with UK shock rocker Al B Damned, providing drums for his last 2 records. His live session history also includes shows at prestigious venues such as London's SCALA club. During his time at Warwick, Leigh played live with several other artists, playing shows in Birmingham, Leamington Spa & Coventry. He also continues to teach students in the area via Skype.

With Beneath Dead Waves about to launch, Leigh's schedule now allows him to take on many more private students, and he has recently joined the Drumsense network with Colin Woolway, which is fast emerging as the world's premier programme for drumset education. He is also currently constructing his own personal website, which will contain much more information and media, will host a wealth of instructional material on also act as his online educational vehicle, with plans for an online drum school/video lesson curriculum in their formative stages.

I feel my method not only covers that material, but also educates the student on a much deeper level (covering subjects which some grade exams do not), and also holds (in my opinion) far more relevance to modern day music, having a much more readily available contemporary application. In fact, many of my students who have followed my methods have requested to occasionally be entered for such exams (for school entrance, etc.), and are immediately fluent with the material - all passed with distinction.

That said, I am happy to follow Rockschool and Trinity Guildhall syllabii from the outset if you wish.

I am also available for tuition via Skype, and already teach many students in the USA, Canada (and even some students in the Midlands) via this platform. This is useful for mentoring, progress reports, exercise dictation for the more advanced player and general career advice. I have been playing guitar for 20 years and teaching music for 7 years. I have been involved in a variety of different bands and ensembles within that time. My main focus throughout this time has been all kinds of rock music but I also have lots of experience in metal and acoustic singer/songwriter styles. I qualified from Leeds College of Music, gaining a 2:1 degree in Music Production and Performance, and possess a passion for all genres of music and teaching. I completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) in Higher Education Music at Edge Hill University in 2020, achieving a Distinction in the process.

Teaching Experience:
As stated above I have been tutoring in music, guitar, bass and piano for around 7 years totally around 1000 individual hours. I have experience working in colleges at BTEC level having completed a PGCE placement at Access To Music Manchester.

Tutoring Approach:
I take a professional approach to teaching and I usually like to start the student off with a song to allow them to enjoy playing their instrument immediately. No matter what their ability, I find a student is always able to learn a song they know and by adopting this approach I find they progress much faster. Based in Manchester, Gauri is a dedicated music educator and composer. She loves meeting new people from around the world-the UK, US, Asia-whom she would have never met without online lessons.Gauri earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Huddersfield, studying piano performance under concert pianist Jonathan Fisher, applied music research under Dr. Daniel White, and music composition under Dr. Geoff Cox.

She also participated in masterclasses with Karl Lutchmayer, Gabriele Baldocci, Douglas Finch, and Sally Ann MacLeod. Gauri completed her music diploma with distinction from KM Music Conservatory, A. R. Rahman's music school in Chennai, India, where she was the lead pianist of the KM Piano Ensemble and performed at Alliance Française of Madras.

To excel as a music educator, Gauri studied music education and community under Dr. Adam Grieg and attended teaching seminars by Trinity Laban Conservatoire with Tim Palmer. She has performed at prestigious venues in the UK and India, including St. Paul's Hall, The Stein Auditorium, Sai Auditorium, and Siri Fort Auditorium.

Grateful for her opportunities and committed to giving back to society, Gauri has actively engaged with community-focused music projects. She has worked with the Sunshine Orchestra in Chennai, an initiative founded by A. R. Rahman to provide free music education to underprivileged children. In this role, she mentored young musicians, helping them develop their skills and fostering their love for music.

Additionally, Gauri has been involved with Music and the Deaf in the UK, an organization dedicated to providing musical opportunities for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals. Through workshops and performances, she has contributed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can experience the joy of music.

Yes, we'll learn how to play your favourite songs/ pieces on the piano. We'll prepare for Trinity grades, if you like. But this class is especially for you, if you'd like to get truly educated in music. These are the topics that I typically cover in my lessons-
