When did you start tutoring?
I have started tutoring one of my classmates while I was still in secondary school. It was a rewarding experience and it is quite interesting to go back to those times and compare how much has changed over the years in my lessons.

Why do you tutor?
I was always passionate about explaining Maths and Science to my peers back in school but I could have never imagined that it would become such a core part of my life. Tutoring is not just a source of income for me, it's something that makes me feel valuable in society, it allows helping so many amazing students around the UK to proceed in their future studies and careers. And it was never just theory and exams that we cover during our lessons, my tutoring sessions inevitably involve critical thinking and applying the knowledge in real life, thus I can contribute to students' lives even more.

What is your biggest tutoring success story?
Creating my own professional database of exam-type questions (the aforementioned startup) proved to be a success in my tutoring career since it allowed to spend more time and energy on creating quality resources for students and reuse them during different lessons. I have been tutoring mathematics for +10 years, supporting primary and secondary students of all ages, both in-person and online in many parts of Glasgow such as Bishopbriggs, Lenzie, Kirkintilloch, Bearsden, Milngavie and the Robroyston area. I am also more than willing to travel to other parts of Glasgow. Moreover, I have also expanded my services and tutored in areas outside of East Dunbartonshire Area such as parts of North Lankarshire.

Additionally, I have also worked in several primary and secondary schools in the Bishopbriggs, Cumbernauld and Kirkintilloch/ Lenzie area.

My background is in Mathematics and Education. I studied BSc Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University and then graduated with BA Education with a specialism in Numeracy at University of Stirling, which has led me into tutoring mathematics.

Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring for +10 years at both primary and secondary level from Primary 6 and 7 to S1 - S3, Nat 4, Nat 5 to Higher.
I offer both in-person and online tutoring, offering flexibility in my tutoring services both with location and timetabling scheduling.

If online tutoring is what you prefer, I also have organised an online set-up to make tutoring and learning online more accessible, streamlined and easy to use whereby, lesson notes will be uploaded, areas of focus will be detailed, learning progress will be tracked and recorded and learning is made easy and convenient.

Moreover, I have tutored mathematics at secondary school level for many years now around the East Dunbartonshire Area - Bishopbriggs, Lenzie, Kirkintilloch, Bearsden, Milngavie and Robyroyston area. However, I have also expanded my tutoring services to other parts of Glasgow such as parts of North Lanarkshire and Glasgow City Council, tutoring pupils all over Glasgow.
Additionally, I have also had experience working in several primary schools in the local Bishopbriggs and Cumbernauld area. Therefore, I am familiar not only with the curriculum, building positive teaching relationship with parents and pupils but with school procedures.

Furthermore, parents and pupils have came to me with issues in struggling in prelims or with confidence issues in learning maths, over the years but under my support, have came out to me with overwhelming positive feedback in significant improvements in student performance, improvement pupil grades and general confidence in understanding in mathematics over the years. This has led me to continually and actively dedicate and provide my services to supporting pupils all over Glasgow.

My +10 years of tutoring experience has allowed me to identify areas where pupils commonly have difficulty with and develop an effective step-by-step teaching approach where laying out the lessons are structured and easy to understand.

Tutoring Approach:
A Systematic approach to Teaching and Easy-to-follow lesson structure - I adopt a systematic approach to teaching learning content is taught in a step-by-step process that ensures lessons are easily understood.

Identify pupil's strengths and weaknesses - I will firstly identify pupil's areas of difficulty so we can begin focusing on areas where students needs work on to ensure there are no gaps in learner knowledge for a strong mathematical foundation so pupils feel confident in their understanding.

Exam revision and past papers practice - I will introduce various successful exam strategies, past-paper revision techniques and plenty of exam practice so pupils can feel confident going into the exam.

Clear communication and transparency of pupil's learning progress with pupils and parents - I will update both students and parents of the learning progress at the end of the lesson so everyone is on the same page.

Provide recommendations for maths practice books and flexible lesson scheduling - I will also recommend any books to purchase. Furthermore, I provide flexible scheduling of lessons to work around the pupil's timetables.

Tutoring Approach:
Students often struggle with maths at school because of misconceptions that are particular to them, and difficult to rectify in a whole class setting, and which lead to the student losing confidence. One-to-one tuition can be an excellent way to address these misconceptions. and enable the student to re-connect with their enjoyment of the subject.

As a psychology graduate (before studying maths at university level), I have a fascination with how students themselves will approach a maths problem, and I'm good at allowing them to explore and develop their own ideas. I find they almost always have energy and enthusiasm for, say, a ratio or algebra problem, if they are allowed to explore it with appropriate visual imagery.

We will visit each and every topic until you are confident and ready for the next stage.
However keeping in mind that one hour will not magically change your results. You will need dedication and hard work outside the lesson to achieve the goal you wish to.
