During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. In the mean time, I topped up my knowledge studying 2 years foundation degree in Child Development to have more of a professional perspective on early years/Foundation stage.

In 2018, I moved to England to start my MA studies in Special Needs and carried on teaching 1-1 ever since I graduated in 2020.

I worked with several children/teenagers/young adults across Manchester within different settings. I got trained in Applied Behavioural Analysis/ABA and tutored in this area offering behavioural support alongside the academic support I have been offering.

I got regular students in Manchester , offering home schooling, pastoral and behavioural support on a regular basis. I have also offered short term interventions , behavioural/emotional support to students who have different needs during this period.

My name is Jamie. I'm a maths graduate from the University of Bath (MMath). I was a Maths Teacher and Key Stage 5 Coordinator at a well-known and very successful secondary school and sixth form in Bath.

I have been a Maths tutor on and off since I was in sixth form and have over 10 years' experience across a variety of ages and abilities (as well as 5 years' experience as a teacher). I'm fortunate that I discovered my passion for teaching and tutoring at a relatively young age, and I have already been able to guide many students at primary, secondary and sixth form level towards their goals.

I enjoy the challenge of breaking mathematical problems down to their basics so that learners of all abilities can access the content on GCSE and A-level specifications. In my experience, I have seen how pupils can get worked up about maths and this can create a mental block to the subject. I will never assume that a pupils knows a particular fact and will patiently work back to some foundational understanding before building concepts back up.
I have amassed a variety of resources over the years and use these to explain the concepts that underly the subject at GCSE and A-level. I also have a plentiful supply of past paper resources which I work through with pupils in order for them to feel confident with the questions that they will face in exams.

I am an experienced and friendly Maths teacher and tutor who has always had a love of the subject and a vocation to helping students grow in confidence and achieve their potential.
