Teaching Experience:
To date, I have accumulated over twenty-three years of teaching experience in: biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics from primary school level straight through to A-levels. This includes extensive experience working with special needs students - particularly, those on the Asperger syndrome spectrum.

Tutoring Approach:
My lessons typically are one hour long and one-to-one. Whether teaching on-line or in person, I always take into account the student's current depth of knowledge and aim to build from there to create a personalised enjoyable interactive learning experience.

I do support my lessons with friendly targets, progress assessments to help develop student subject/learning strengths and address weakness. I do provide plenty of homework weekly to consolidate learning and help identify areas for further learning.

Teaching Experience:
Since 2010, I have been tutoring in the academic subjects Maths and the individual Sciences; Biology, Chemistry & Physics.

I have taught at both primary- and secondary-school levels, with my students ranging between the ages of 6 and 16.

I can also help with entrance examinations for secondary school (including verbal and non-verbal reasoning), and I have provided mentorship and coaching when it comes to UCAS application forms, personal statements and CV writing.

Whilst I enjoyed some of the subjects at school, certain subjects and topics (including Maths!) didn't come naturally to me. I achieved 7A*s and 5A*s at GCSE, and went on to study Biology, Chemistry & Maths at A-Level.

Tutoring Approach:
As I have already mentioned, I have a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and my tutoring approach is a student-centred one. My experiences covers tutoring, mentoring and coaching and I use a combination of the three in my work.

I am yet to come across a student who doesn't possess the potential to improve. More often than not, it is the large class sizes at school, or a teacher whose approach isn't the right fit, which explains why a student doesn't understand a particular subject, or particular topics within that subject.

Through the 1-to-1 work I do with students, not only have I witnessed some remarkable grade improvements but also some amazing transformations in confidence. I strongly feel that the work I do is more than merely improving grades for exams.

⭐ My philosophy is that if you are struggling with a particular subject or topic, it's not your fault and there's nothing wrong with you. It simply means you've not been taught in a way that makes sense to you (or you've not been given the time and attention to be taught properly - in a big class and with the pressures of working through an extensive curriculum).

I'm based near Kingston and offer tutoring in-person and online (though I try to meet in-person first where possible, as this tends to work best for the tutoring relationship).

I believe the greatest benefit of 1:1 tutoring (or tutoring small groups), is that it is so much easier to tailor the learning to the student's needs, aiding understanding and building on that towards mastery of a subject. Progress is often swift because as has been so often stated, 1:1 tuition for an hour is probably the equivalent of several days in the classroom! My initial approach is to assess the student's needs in the first couple of sessions, using the information gleaned to build a program of study that is particular to that student. Hi, I'm a year 13 student with currently 3 offers for medicine and awaiting to hear from the 4th, I have tutored other students from year 3 up until year 9. I really enjoy working with students to help them feel more confident in their subjects. I got 9 for GCSE maths, biology, chemistry and physics and would love to help anyone that is struggling in those subjects. I got all A's in my first year of A level Chemistry, Biology and Maths and am consistently getting A*'s in the second year. I believe that tutoring should be individualized to the needs of individual students and so I do not take a blanket approach with tutoring and I prefer to discuss with my students to arrange a plan of support ideal to them. What I usually do is working 1 topic behind what they do at school and consolidating exam technique on those topics and revising them together or another way to is teach ahead of the syllabus so when they cover it in school it will be like revision for the student. I usually explain topics using diagrams and examples and by teaching handy mnemonics to aid retention and recollection.

I have tutored privately 1:1 for the past 7 years, working with a mixture of ks3 students, as well as ks4 in examination prep at both higher and foundation level. Everyone I worked with got the required confidence or grade that they needed to move onto the next stage of their learning journey - excellent!

Tutoring Approach:
I love a mixture of tasks to break up the monotony of 'a worksheet of questions' which might be some peoples' experience of maths lessons. Maths is not boring; I want to share my love of it with people!

I like interactivity - be it using mini whiteboards, card sorts, tarsias etc. - as well as ensuring key concepts are covered with GCSE style questions so our skills match up and link to what examiners might ask.

Using physical manipulatives to introduce concepts which leads to understanding at an abstract level helps solidify knowledge and fluency of skill.

If one strategy does not work, I have a range of other ways to aid understanding - one size does not fit all with maths and there are often more ways than one to find a solution. Let's explore our reasoning together and develop a solid mathematical understanding and hopefully build your confidence at the same time!

Personal Description:
I am currently employed as a maths excellence specialist, working towards my teaching qualification. I have a degree in mathematics as well as A-levels and GCSEs in the subject. I love helping others and find it extremely rewarding.

Teaching Experience:
I have been working in secondary schools since 2022. I am very passionate about maths and with my school I offer numerous tutoring sessions during the week to aid year 11s and further maths students. With my placement I offered remote tutoring where I received a very complimentary email from the head teacher after their child had joined and suggested my tutoring sessions were better than their own private tutor.

Tutoring Approach:
I start with a past paper to find any gaps in knowledge and plan accordingly to fill them gaps and correctly scaffold to achieve a strong understanding of the concepts. I will have questions pre-printed or available on my laptop depending on the topic.
