Each student is different, and I feel it an insult to my students' integrity to tell them how to revise when first meeting them. Through my experience teaching, there is no right way to study, but there are a variety of 'better' ways to make the best grades for each person's potential.

Many students approach me frustrated that they often don't achieve the same calibre as their peers despite the hours they put in. Often it is due to the fact that they aren't their peers and a different approach to revision and homework is required. I believe in working smart before working hard.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is very student centric - focused on the needs of the student. If I believe theory is lacking, I will explain the theory in a comprehensive way. If I believe application is missing, I will go over many questions, guiding the student through them. I have a mix of my own questions and past paper questions that I use. As the exams draw nearer I will focus more on past papers.

I also give each student, if they or the parents want it, activities to do which I will mark at the next session. This is like homework except I will try to make it more engaging and fun. None of my activities are generalised - I will base each on what the student requires. I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. Teaching physics is a great privilege and pleasure having taught A Level physics for both OCR and Edexcel boards as well as GCSE and iGCSE physics and chemistry. I'm Laurence. I attended the University of Oxford between 2010 and 2018, completing an undergraduate masters of mathematics (MMath) and a doctorate in mathematical biology (DPhil, PhD). I have 5+ years experience of tutoring the UK mathematics syllabus.
