My first step is always to assess exactly where my student is at so that I can plan the content for sessions accordingly and make sure that they get the best out of each lesson. If there are any gaps in the foundations of their knowledge we can then attack these head on. I always ensure that my lessons are engaging, and work towards building a good relationship with my students, encouraging them to ask questions without any hesitation. My approach for students studying Psychology at degree level depends on what is required. Most students require guidance with essays, reports, dissertations and write ups; I usually go through the assignment with the student giving valuable, detailed feedback on what can be improved and exactly how they can go about doing so. This can involve several redrafts until the work has been completed to the students' full potential.

I transitioned to teaching from a business career following the birth of my children and found that I thrive helping people learn. During my teaching career, I have successfully helped people from a wide range of backgrounds, including people with sight and hearing issues, people who feel limited by mental health issues, people regarded as neuro-atypical and people for whom English is an additional language.

Teaching Experience:
I have 15 years experience as a Mathematics Teacher in English grammar, comprehensive and independent schools, teaching students from Year 7 to Year 13, including Further Mathematics and Oxbridge entry.

Tutoring Approach:
My aim is for my students to make great progress in learning mathematics by helping them understand how and why the key concepts work, giving them a chance to practice the key skills and extend their capabilities so that their growing confidence allows them to use these skills to solve problems and move successfully to the next level. I am told that I am patient, supportive and friendly with high expectations that anyone can succeed with the right help.
