I believe in tailoring the teaching approach to each student's needs and individual learning style. For school children and university students, I discuss their aims with them - and with their parents, if required - to determine what topics need additional tuition and then to work out the appropriate programme. I am well versed with all the requirements of the major UK examination boards, as well as an understanding of what universities are looking for in exams and coursework.

For those of you that are interested in becoming an Actuary or indeed would like some tuition for the exams set by the Institute of Actuaries, I am able to teach the following courses: CT1 - Financial Mathematics, CT3 - Probability and Mathematical Statistics, CT4 - Models, CT7 - Economics.

I am well versed with the requirements of the major UK boards for ACA and CA, such as Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW) and Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).

I also teach AAT (all Levels), ACCA and CIMA courses.

Tutoring Approach:
During the first session I present a short questionnaire that I ask the student to fill in (honestly!) in order for me to assess their individual learning styles (right brain vs. left brain, use of visual stimuli etc), so that I can respond best to their needs. Every lesson will begin with an outline of the subject content and the intended aims. The key to success in maths and economics is to do it! With that in mind, the vast majority of lessons will entail methodically working through problems and exam style questions to ensure my students are as well prepared for their modules as possible. However, exam success isn't the only concern; I want to nurture and develop a genuine love for Mathematics, Accounting, Business and Economics; one that will encourage the students to read widely and explore new avenues of thought.

Personal Description:
I am a highly experienced private Mathematics tutor, offering quality tuition to A Level, GCSE and KS3 Mathematics students. I achieved First Class Honours in BSc Mathematics at Durham University, and I hold a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics Education, involving experience of teaching multiple classes across two secondary schools. I took A Levels in mathematics, further mathematics, chemistry and economics, achieving A* grades in all four subjects. In my GCSEs, I achieved A* grades in all eight subjects with letter grades, as well as grade 9 in Mathematics. As I currently tutor a considerable number of students, my knowledge is constantly refreshed, and I can offer well-informed, up-to-date tuition.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored over 60 students, across Years 7 to 13 and beyond. My experience of working alongside students with many different approaches and attitudes to learning enables me to provide an extremely high quality of tuition for my students. Throughout my time tutoring, I have received overwhelmingly positive feedback for my services, and my tutees have made significant progress in Mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe in the mantra "Learn - Remember - Revise", by which I initially help students to understand a topic, before enabling them to refresh and consolidate their knowledge and finally I assist them in answering exam-style questions. This ensures that the student will be confident in that topic, and be able to apply their knowledge in an exam.

I am keen on training others and believe my fifties is a great time to give back on what I have received and empower others. My career has been mainly civil engineering project management with a stint in education when I attempted to change profession to further education lecturing

I have at least 8 years experience teaching mathematics. I love maths and do my best to help my students engage with the subject through multiple approaches. I use tests to effectively identify gaps in knowledge and work hard to ensure my students can remember core skills through short starters.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught actively in schools in the last 5 years and delivered exceptional lessons. I worked consistently at a school to help ensure improve GCSE grades. I currently teach in a comprehensive school.
