Personal Description:
As a 63 year old with 17 years teaching, I have a lifetime of real experiences outside teaching. This includes 20 years as an RAF technician using maths and physics and 10 years in the business and computing world. Consequently I can deliver teaching to students that is real and meaningful. Domestically I have four children (three have left home), a cat called Abby and Freddie the gold fish.
Teaching Experience:
I am very good at my job as a full time maths teacher and I teach/tutor students with a range of abilities and learning difficulties. My experience and ability to teach well has consequently produced excellent results for students. The focus of my tutoring is to develop a students confidence and independence to think logically in maths. I have extensive experience of providing professional support to students in their home, or tutoring online.
Tutoring Approach:
Over the years I have tutored many students in their homes and they have gone on to achieve excellent grades. Due to the fantastic rich varieties of learning activities, and the high level of interaction, most of my tutoring is now delivered online. Parents are often sceptical at first, but after a short demonstration, most of my potential students and parents take the online option. Delivered directly into your home via live Internet, the benefits of online learning are massive: all sessions are recorded, students have access to hundreds of PowerPoint, accurate assessment, and students make rapid progress. After the first couple of sessions parents begin to understand why traditional tutoring methods are very poor and often produce limited results. Student love the online approach to learning and make great progress.
My aim is to develop a student's confidence and identify any barriers to learning. Effective learning and thinking skills can be developed through gentle questioning and guiding a student so they are able to achieve. I feel it's important as a tutor to develop listening skills so that one can pick-up on areas where the student needs support. Some assessment is necessary to show how a student has progressed. I believe my experience and enthusiastic approach helps me to present difficult concepts in a simple way, and online tutoring is ideal. Its also important for me that a student has fun while learning so that they make good progress. CRB Enhanced.

Personal Description:
I am a mechanical engineer with MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from University of Cambridge.
Teaching Experience:
I was involved in conducting the training camp for the selection of the team that represented Pakistan in the 36th International Physics Olympiad, held in Spain. I was involved in conducting exams, practicals, marking, teaching as well as coordinating tutorials sessions with professors.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to take a practical approach to teaching. I want to give an intuitive feel to the students to help him grasp complex concepts. I do this by giving everyday examples to highlight the subjects under study. I want to
make science fun, cool and intuitive for students and remove the myth and misconceived perception that it is difficult and boring. If the teaching approach is correct, there is no reason why students will not be thrilled by laws and mechanisms of universe.

Personal Description:
I'm a Chinese girl who is really hard working and self-disciplined. I am a postgraduate in Translation and Interpreting at University of Essex. I did my bachelor's degree in English in China and I was the top student in my class.
Apart from the high levels of enthusiasm and commitment, as I have been trained intensively to be a Simultaneous Interpreter/ Conference Interpreter, I enjoy the advantage of good presentation and speaking manner. It's proven that I have strong teamwork spirit and multitask skills. I can work under high pressure and am able to schedule priorities and perform/delegate accordingly to effectively accomplish tasks at hand. Living in China for 20 years, I can always look at things in new perspective. Culturally I am strongly adaptive since I can smoothly operate in two entirely different environments.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored some primary school kids on their English course when I was in China. Their class performance was much better after my tutoring. I managed to get a Teacher's Certificate by taking the national exam when I was in China.
I have a real passion for languages and have been very privileged to have had the opportunities to go and live in the countries where these languages are spoken and experience the diverse culture each country has to offer. Teaching is something that I am very passionate about and want to help others have the same opportunities I have been fortunate to have.
Tutoring Approach:
I work closely with my students to customize the most effective one-on-one tutoring solution. I listen. Before designing a module, I make careful observation and evaluate the student's ability. I teach with the most patience.

Teaching Experience:
Teaching for 5 years in West London. 6 months in Midde East teaching. Experience teaching across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Tutoring Approach:
From teaching experience I know what the main misconceptions are and use this to base my teaching on. So before we begin a topic I try to tease out any difficulties a student may have and go forward. For me building confidence in maths is one of the main building blocks to helping a student improve substantially.

6) Singing -from Grades 1 to 5., as well as learning for pleasure
7) Guitar- from Grades 1 to 3, as well as learning for pleasure.
8) Music Theory- from Grades 1 to 5.
I am now offering tuition on Zoom/Skype during the Lockdown.
I also have 26 written references from parents, for students of various abilities, across all these subjects and levels.
I have an English-related degree (in History- which included some English modules within the degree), and I have a Level 1 City & Guilds Teaching Certificate in English.
I also have a proven track record of improving student's grades, regularly improving them by 1 to 2 grades, often in less than 1 year's tuition. For example, in English, I recently tutored a student at GCSE level- he had been predicted C grades in both Language & Literature, but after just 8 months' tuition with me, he achieved an A in his GCSE English Language exam and an A* in his English Literature exam. This is typical of my success over the years as a tutor.
I use National Curriculum Resources for all tuitions. Furthermore, I have great experience tutoring all abilities from the gifted and talented to those with Learning Disabilities (I have regularly taught students with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Asberges).
I can either travel to the student's home or they can come to me. I am available to tutor on all evenings of the week, Monday to Friday, as well as in the daytime.I tutor through most of the School holidays, providing the opportunity for students to put in extra revision during these periods.
Teaching Experience:
As a full-time tutor, I have built up an extensive knowledge of the National Curriculum and the various exam boards.
I have also built up a wealth of National Curriculum Resources for English, Maths and History : my 3 main subjects.
For English, I have resources covering the following: Spelling, Punctuation, Grammar , Phonics, Vocabulary, Sentence structure, Comprehension and Creative Writing.
For Maths, I have resources from the very basics: Number Bonds and Counting up and down at KS1, to the 4 operations & main topics : for example Fractions , Decimals and Percentages at KS2 . Also, I have books for Gifted and Talented Maths students at the top of KS2 level. In addition, I have an extensive resource base of past exam papers in all subjects and levels.
For History, I have National Curriculum Resources for the various exam boards and plenty of past papers.
Tutoring Approach:
I am a firm believer in making students feel at ease in the lessons, and in offering plenty of encouragement during the tuitions to build the student's confidence in the subject I am teaching.
I generally teach a topic to a student , and then set practice questions for the student to attempt based on my teaching.I am open to setting homework for the students, but always liaise with the parents as to whether they want their child to have any and if so how much.

Personal Description:
I was graduated from The University of Hong Kong, major in Mathematics. As a person enthusiastic in Mathematics, I am familiar to analyze the problem and find out the solution logically. Therefore I can explain to the student not only how can I find out the answer, but also why can I know the method so that my students can understand the whole concept clearly. In addition to teaching, I would also be patient to ask the student questions to find out what they are misunderstanding so that I can correct their concept. So my students always can follow the progress in my lesson.
Teaching Experience:
I have more than 10 years one-to-one tutorial and 6 years group tutorial experience in maths. Mainly teach the students in the age between 12 to 17. The teaching content include explain the concept, consolidate the formula and skill by massive practice and train the examination skills. Although I taught maths in Hong Kong syllabus mainly before, I also have taught some students in GCSE. Therefore I also understand the syllabus in GCSE.
Tutoring Approach:
In my teaching experience, I think the most important point is let the student understand the concept so that they know what they are do, rather than just remember the formula and methods. Therefore in my lesson, students can expect they would touch much of different types of question to challenge their thinking. I think such critical thinking type of teaching method is the most appropriate to the teenage group of students. Of course I would also provide the exercise for their consolidation, teach how to use the calculator, exam skill, etc. to help the students to get a good result in their examinations.

I've been involved in tutoring for more than 2 years and I will use the best teaching strategy that is suitable for the student.
Tutoring Approach:
I ensure that every student understands the subject or topic by the end of the lesson. I will make sure that my GCSE and A level students feel confident and comfortable when facing their actual exams, as I tend to do a lot of past paper questions for the students to grasp the technique. If necessary, I will give out discounted tuitions to go through the past paper questions near their exam. I will use the online whiteboard to describe the concepts clearly and I will go through it as many times as the student wants, to ensure that they have understood the concept.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught in inner city schools since 2016, when I qualified. Previously I used to work as a teaching assistant rural and city schools, starting in 2013.
My teaching experience comes from teaching across primary full time, working as a reading and numeracy support teacher with SEN children of ages 8-14 and teaching English GCSE, iGCSE and IELTS to students in the UK as well as across Asia and Europe.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approaches depend on the needs and goals of my students. Not one approach fits all and therefore communication is key in establishing good working patterns that will support the student in progressing and succeeding.

Better GCSE maths grades open doors to sixth form, apprenticeships and university. I target weak spots that stand in the way of exam success, using analytical skills from my MSc in Computer Science and years as a software engineer.
Teaching Experience:
I work one-to-one to build understanding that lasts, using past papers and modern approaches so students can rely on their knowledge under exam conditions. I've supported several students through GCSE maths, and parents describe me as professional, patient and adaptable.
I draw on Craig Barton's research-based principles (including cognitive load theory) to reduce overload and make learning stick. I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate (renewed Sep 2025, verifiable on request).
Tutoring Approach:
Online lessons are structured but flexible, designed to fill gaps and build confidence step by step. A typical session includes a short recap, introduction of a new concept, worked examples, guided practice and independent work. Most exercises come from past exam papers, so students become comfortable with the style they'll face. The aim is to reduce stress and strengthen exam technique to make progress feel achievable.

Personal Description:
I am a dedicated and passionate teacher currently working with primary 1/2 students, and I have had experience working with children of all ages. I am GTC registered and have an PVG to work with children. Outside of the classroom, I have been involved in Girl Guiding and have had various opportunities to engage with children in different school settings. This has allowed me to develop a well-rounded understanding of how children learn and grow in different environments.
Teaching Experience:
Throughout my teaching career, I have had the privilege of working with children from ages 4 to 16, and I am now offering tutoring in subjects such as maths, literacy, and social studies subjects including sociology, criminology, and modern studies for National 5 students. I take pride in tailoring my lessons to suit the individual needs of my students, helping them not only meet but exceed their learning goals. My experience with a range of age groups and subjects has provided me with the tools to create engaging and effective lessons.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in creating an engaging and interactive learning environment where students are actively involved in their learning process. I focus on active learning techniques and repetition, ensuring that key concepts are fully understood and retained. I always strive to align my lessons with the Curriculum for Excellence, ensuring they are both relevant and challenging. By incorporating various strategies such as hands-on activities, real-life applications, and positive reinforcement, I aim to help students build confidence in their abilities while achieving academic success.
I will be offering opportunities from now until August to get your child ready to begin Primary 1 in regards to literacy and maths. This can be in the form of 1-1 sessions or group sessions that will help develop social skills too! In addition to this, I will be offering sessions for current school children to both revise and learn maths and literacy knowledge and skills to ensure they have the best start in their next academic year.

Personal Description:
My name is Jo and I live in Balloch.
.I have 37 years of dedicated service in education, I recently retired after a fulfilling career focused on enhancing children's learning. For 15 years, I served as a Principal Teacher in a large, diverse school in Glasgow's West End, where I led teams and supported whole-school improvement. As Literacy Leader of Learning for 6 years, I championed innovative approaches to reading and writing across the curriculum.
Teaching Experience:
For the past six years, my role has been Challenge Leader of Learning/Principal Teacher in a large school in the West End of Glasgow. Through the Literacy for All CPD training and guidance courses that I have attended, my remit has been to improve reading, writing , talking and listening as part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge with the focus on giving all children the same opportunity to succeed, with a particular focus on closing the poverty related attainment gap and promote equity for all. This year due to Covid 19 I have had to develop my digital literacy skills in order to home school through Google Classroom, Seesaw and Teams. • A member of the Senior Management team within a large school, collaborating on improving all areas of the curriculum using HGIOS4. SIP, Standards and Quality Report, Education Perspective Report and shared vision, values and aims with colleagues. • I am committed to the inclusion of all children and developing the potential in all children by removing barriers to learning, families and staff. I evidence this by collecting quantitative data, people's views and direct observation. • To cultivate an environment of professional engagement, dialogue and collegiate working. Moderating reading, writing and assessment of pupil's skills. • Leading a PEF team of two highly experienced teachers to track and target individual children's progress through formative and summative approaches (I plan reading, writing lessons through experiences and outcomes that specifically meet the children's learning needs.) • Work collaboratively/team teach with colleagues at all stages to implement literacy circles, reciprocal teaching and stem a story. • Plan and deliver CPD opportunities for teachers on Early Learning, Scotland Reads, Reciprocal Teaching, STEM a story, Word Aware and Routes Through Writing. • Developed my own Busy Little Fingers writing skills programme and implemented across early stages. • Plan training days for Support for Learner Workers that give them strategies and skills to improve children's learning. • Update staff on Glasgow Improvement Challenge on in-service days and school business meeting. keep them informed of recent
Tutoring Approach:
I offer flexible tutoring options to suit your family's needs - online lessons, sessions at my home, or in the comfort of your child's home.
My approach is centred around engaging each child by connecting learning to topics they genuinely enjoy. I believe that sparking curiosity and making learning relevant can inspire even the most hesitant learners, helping them grow in confidence and develop a love for learning.

Personal Description:
I am a BSc Maths Graduate that's absolute 'maths nerd' that loves seeing people understand maths, and spreading information about maths.
I think anyone can learn maths, given the right teaching and going at their own pace, and I think I can provide this style of teaching
Teaching Experience:
I've taught students aged 7 to 18, both online and in person, using a flexible and encouraging approach. Working with such a wide range of learners has helped me adapt to different needs and learning styles, helping students build confidence, understand things more clearly, and see real improvements in their results.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching follows three stages for topics that students are less familiar with:
Guided Example - I begin by working through an example with the student, explaining each step in detail.
Supported Practice - I then provide a similar question broken into smaller parts, prompting the student to ask questions and gradually increasing their independence. This step is repeated until they are confident.
Independent Practice - Finally, I give the student a full question without hints or prompts, to check their understanding and ability to solve it independently.
I can tutor Mathematics up to A-Level (including Further Maths), and I am confident with all the content at this level. Informally, I have tutored peers in the past and found it rewarding to see their progress reflected in improved grades.
