After leaving school, I studied engineering and computing for two years although I inevitably returned to my favourite subject and completed a sandwich degree in mathematics in Dundee. This included a year's I.T. work experience in Berkshire and Lancashire. After graduating I gained a further year's I.T work experience in Chester and Warrington. This was followed by a Post Grad in Software Engineering in Dundee. Yet again, the pull of my favourite subject was too strong. It was then that I completed a Post Grad in Education for secondary mathematics in Glasgow. This included teaching mathematics in two of the local schools. After graduating, I taught in a further two schools back in Dundee. In 2004 however, I chose to dedicate my time to full time private tuition in mathematics as further explained in my experience.

From a young age, I have always enjoyed helping family members and friends with school maths. I have also enjoyed helping various people in further education. During my mathematics degree, I supported an adult learner for a college qualification. Since 2004 I have worked as a full-time maths tutor for all ages and abilities. I am passionate when it comes to teaching as it is something I believe is rewarding to both the student and the tutor. It has instilled patience and communication within me among other qualities necessary for the role and I am looking forward to passing knowledge onwards!

Teaching Experience:
I used to tutor GCSE and A Level students at my college to prepare them for their maths assessments from which they benefitted a lot in the lead-up to their examinations.

I also used to be a liaison for 2 years working with year 8-9 kids in a classroom environment. My job was to guide and teach them, on a collective and individual scale, revision techniques, exam preparation and carry out weekly activities with the class in order to provoke thoughts for their futures and improve their teamwork, communication and academic skills.

Tutoring Approach:
Teaching method (open to be altered according to the student, however my default teaching method is as follows):
- Short walkthrough of the module topic with QnA throughout to ensure the topic is understood
- Exploring and answering example questions together
- Exam questions for the student to attempt and walk through the answer together (we go through questions until the student is comfortable with the topic and is able to move on)
