I am an aerospace engineer by qualification with a Bachelor's and Masters degree from the University of Leeds in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering. I joined the automotive industry in 2015 and have since worked in engineering. Being an engineer and coming from a family of engineers, Maths is naturally my favourite subject and my strength. Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring GCE & GCSE level Maths and Physics since 2008. I offer both one-to-one tuition and studying in a groups, both online and in-person. Generally, I recommend 1.5 hour or 2 hours per week per student, covering one topic per session and complementing the session work with homework for practice. I often use AQA, Edexcel and CIE past papers for revision and exam preparation. I also prepare my own mock papers and exam style questions depending on students' abilities. Lesson structures of course vary to cater to each student's needs.

All subjects are taught through explanation, reasoning, examples and home practices. Science is taught through understanding of the theory and practising problem solving while Mathematics is taught by showing the simple steps and with easy tips & tricks to remember the method or to remember common values such as sin 30=0.5. Primary English as a foreign language is taught through reading to expand vocabulary, writing to improve spelling and grammar as well as conversing to bring proficiency and comfort. I was graduated from The University of Hong Kong, major in Mathematics. As a person enthusiastic in Mathematics, I am familiar to analyze the problem and find out the solution logically. From an early age I have been extremely enthusiastic about mathematics and since leaving education, and before I chose to pursue a career in education, I have been fascinated by learning and problem solving. 1 year working in East London, 2 years overseas in the Dominican Republic (students are 95% native Spanish speakers), 3 years in England, 1 year PGCE training incorporating placements at 2 schools in Louth (North East Lincolnshire), trained at Lincoln BGUC. I am currently curriculum leader for maths at my college and have been acting head of department at my previous school.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe the key to learning is presenting a new topic in a way that the learner can engage with best. I would aim to break a complex problem down into smaller more manageable parts. Maths is a subject where each new concept is just a collection of previously learnt skills or techniques used in a specific way. I would visit the house of the tutee under the supervision of a parent. Also, if acceptable, I would try to involve a parent in the tuition process so that they can work with the tutee at a later date, if they thought it would help. I am happy to set additional work to be finished between tuition sessions, if the parent and tutee consent to this. I aim to not only help the tutee in acquiring the grade they want but also to improve their confidence in maths and help inspire them to enjoy the subject more.

Personal Description:
I am 56 years old, am a qualified teacher with 15 years experience. I am an easy-going reliable person who likes to make my students feel at ease at all times.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching seconday school students since qualifying in 1998. I have had two full-time posts, worked as a supply teacher as well as having private students. I have worked in Inner London, Outer London, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire schools. I have also worked in France at a small private school during the '80's, predominantly teaching adults.

Tutoring Approach:
I teach French using the native tongue as much as possible. I use my own resources although I use the Internet for ideas whenever it's suitable.
For Maths I follow the syllabus laid down by whichever examining board the student is using and resources come from a wide variety of places usually from where I have recently been teaching. I gather information from colleagues who sometimes have great ideas. I like to be able to go through past papers with students marking work as we go through a course.
