My name is Dilafruz (Dilya) and I am originally from Tajikistan. My mother tongue is Persian Tajik and also, Russian.
Before I moved to London, I was learning English at university and graduated in Economics and Finance. My passion has always been to live in a city where I could practice and perfect my English.

8 years later, I have three young children (ages 2-7 years) and a baking business. I speak English fluently, have picked up Turkish through TV series and now learning Arabic online! I'm a doctor currently working as a GP Registrar, having completed a Graduate Entry Medicine degree at the University of Southampton. Before starting my studies in Medicine, I completed my BSc. (Hons) Human Physiology at the University of Portsmouth in 2015. Mathematics being a specific passion of mine, I encourage students to apply their own knowledge to the question, before adding any new information. By showing proof of how a calculation or question works, I believe that anyone can grasp a method if they are shown the reason behind its usage. I believe I can offer an alternative to the class driven method of teaching, and allow students to gain aptitude in spotting the need for a calculation just by reading the question, and hopefully then on to creating their own calculations and solutions! I also aim to make a heavy question of 5 or 6 marks appear to be just a group of smaller questions, making each mark easier to get. I've been teaching for twelve years now and I've seen many students suffer from a lack of confidence in their own ability, and I always ensure that not only does the person have core, and advanced knowledge, but that they have confidence in the fact that anything can be achieved!

In school I designed and constructed a solar-powered light of adjustable brightness. Patterns appeal to me. When I am not involved in science, I do Scottish Country Dancing, as well as many other genres of folk dancing with intricate symmetrical dance figures. My study of several languages, including Latin and German, allows me to identify parts of scientific terms that I can use to help my students understand them - for instance a recently discovered non-repeating tile is named Einstein not after the physicist but because only one ('ein') type of tile or stone ('stein') is needed to make the pattern. I find Richard Feynman inspiring. He himself got into science through tinkering and discussions with his father about how things worked. He spoke on beauty in nature, and that scientific understanding only enhances its appreciation - as well as seeing the beauty of a flower, a scientist can also wonder at its smaller structure, and how it developed to attract insects to pollinate it.
