Personal Description:
Hello and welcome :-)

I'm Craig and I have been teaching languages for almost 15 years now. I am a relaxed and patient teacher and will be well suited to anyone who needs to learn at their own pace or who needs things explained well and carefully to them.

I am also well qualified for the job with a BA Honours degree with triple distinctions in Spanish, Italian & French as well as Teacher Qualified Status and a CELTA. I have also lived, worked and studied in Spain, Italy, France and Greece.

I have studied a lot of languages myself. I've studied over 30 languages over the years. I have achieved fluency in the languages I teach, but I have also reached a fairly good standard in some other languages or have acquired a basic knowledge of many others. I will use some of the methods I have used to learn these languages to help teach you.

I will help you, step by step, to begin speaking and understanding your chosen language.

I am also DBS (previously CRB) checked for your security.

Here are a few a reviews from my customers:

I thoroughly recommend Craig to everyone as an excellent Spanish tutor. He is kind, patient and commited to his students.
My daughter, who had been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) had an hour`s lesson every week for eighteen months, after her secondary school was unable to offer Spanish lessons. She achieved an A* grade in her GCSE exam (Review by Kerrie, Sittingbourne)

I thoroughly recommend Craig if you are looking to learn a foreign language. I spent my teenage years completely adamant that a second language was beyond me. German was my weakest subject and I sat at the back of the class applying my make up! I am now working towards conversational Spanish, and after just over 3 months I am able to hold a Facebook messenger conversation with my South American friends! Not only has Craig taught me enough grammar to achieve this, he also anticipates difficulties English speakers may have with certain language constructs and works through those too. I always look forward to my lessons each week, and enjoy doing the practice questions I`m given for homework. (Review by Emma, Chatham)

I am giving my Italian lessons with Craig a 5 star rating. I began my lessons as a complete novice and now feel confident enough to be going on holiday to Italy to stay in a non-English speaking village. Craig is a highly-skilled professional. I recommend him to anyone who wants to learn a language (he speaks and teaches many!) whether a beginner or with some existing knowledge, for holidays, for work or to reinforce their language learning. (Review by Amanda, Maidstone)

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching languages since 2004 and have worked as a full time language tutor since 2010.
I have also taught in language schools in the UK and abroad as well as in public schools.

Tutoring Approach:
I am very patient and will guide you step by step towards speaking your language of choice. I use a mix of my own course designed by me and materials from other sources such as course books, grammar books and realia.

Educational Leadership & Group Facilitation
Tour Director | WorldStrides | UK & Europe

Alongside my teaching and coaching work, I have extensive experience as a Tour Director for WorldStrides, leading and supporting student groups in international educational contexts.

Program leaders consistently highlight my ability to build trust quickly, communicate clearly, manage group dynamics, and respond calmly and creatively to challenges. Feedback frequently references strong relationship-building, empathy, professionalism, and genuine care for students' wellbeing - qualities I bring into every teaching and tutoring relationship.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe effective teaching starts with strong relationships, clarity, and trust. A teacher can make a real difference in a person's life - for better or worse - and at its best, teaching can be a source of inspiration that helps students discover confidence and even enjoyment in subjects they once found difficult or unapproachable. When students feel understood and supported, they engage more fully and make faster, more sustainable progress.

As a private tutor, I work one-to-one, which allows me to tailor each lesson to the student's specific needs, learning style, and goals. Every student is different, and there is no single method that works for everyone. My role is to understand how each student learns best and to adapt my approach accordingly.

I begin with an initial session to assess the student's current level, identify learning gaps, and clarify objectives (for example exam requirements, confidence-building, or long-term improvement). From there, I design a clear, structured learning plan, combining subject expertise with coaching tools to support focus, motivation, and effective study habits.

Each session is carefully prepared in advance and structured to:
- Build understanding step by step
- Encourage active participation and independent thinking
- Develop confidence and exam readiness
- Reinforce learning through practice and feedback

I expect commitment from the student, and I support this by creating a positive, calm, and encouraging learning environment where questions are welcomed and mistakes are seen as a natural part of learning.

My aim is not only to help students improve academically, but also to equip them with strategies, confidence, and self-belief that stay with them well beyond the subject itself.

'My goal is always measurable progress, achieved in a way that feels supportive, motivating, and sustainable.'

Personal Description:
Hi, I have always had a love for languages and would love to instil you with the same enthusiasm. After having lived abroad as part of my degree, I then graduated with a BA Hons Degree Class 2.1 in Modern Languages (German, French and Italian), after which I obtained my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). After teaching, I also worked for International companies, using my languages extensively by liaising with customers and colleagues overseas and also translating and interpreting. I have always kept my languages fresh by reading foreign literature and keeping in touch with German / French friends. I am mother to 4 children, but even after my children were born, I continued to do some freelance translation. As a mother and as a teacher, I know the importance of patience and how important it is to make learning worthwhile, enjoyable and fun!

Teaching Experience:
After qualifying as a Languages teacher, I have taught German and French in a Comprehensive School to the 11-18 age group. I have tutored teenagers and adults privately in both German and French. I have also provided French classes in one of the International companies I worked for.

Tutoring Approach:
I can offer a learning program which is specifically tailored to suit the individuals needs, whatever the level of knowledge or ability. If required, lessons can be adapted to focus on specific areas such as grammar or conversation practice. My experience in using languages in a business setting also means that I am also well placed to teach lanuages to adults for business purposes. I am a perfectionist and will strive to offer the best tuition possible, by thorough preparation and the use of a variety of learning materials and approaches. If required homework can be set to consolidate knowledge learnt. I want your learning to be productive and engaging. It can open a window into foreign culture and soon you will realise how much fun it is to be able to communicate in another language.

Personal Description:
I am a native speaker of Italian with a degree in European Languages and extensive teaching experience. I have been based in Oxford for almost 20 years, after having lived in different European countries. I am an enthusiast linguist and my multilingual family is testimonial to that (a French husband, and trilingual children).

Teaching Experience:
I have gained experience in teaching to both adults and younger students (secondary school and degree level), both in formal context (university degree courses and schools) and less formal (evening and leisure courses) as well as Italian for business (directly to companies for their employees).

Tutoring Approach:
I privilege the communicative approach as after all languages are made to communicate! This allows all lessons to be more relaxed and rewarding as small results can be achieved - and seen - every time. I have run absolute beginners intensive courses and my aim is to allow the student(s) to go home speaking from the first time, however little it might be. At the same time, I also tend not to forget about grammar as it is the structure of the language and gives a better insight and understanding, but even grammar doesn't necessarily need to be taught in a very conservative manner.

Personal Description:
I am Italian and I moved to the UK in 2005 and I have been living in UK since.
I love teaching Italian and I find it the most rewarding job I could ever do because since I have started it has enriched me as much as my students.
I believe that learning a language is more than just learning grammar and vocabulary, but it is the experience of communicating and exchanging part of the culture through it.

Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced qualified Italian teacher in both the UK and Italy.
Since moving to the UK in 2005, I have taught Italian in different colleges and in private tutorials to prepare GCSE, AS and A2 tests as well as teaching beginners courses or conversational Italian at home.
Thanks to my first class teaching, my students have obtained top GCSE level results (A - A*) as well as A levels ones.

I have also been teaching Maths for the past 5 years in Secondary schools up to GCSE level.
I am now working as a supply teacher specialized in Maths.

Tutoring Approach:
I am an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, with high expectations for all my students, believing that with a personal and individual approach each student can achieve high level results in languages.
I strongly support the theory that the use of a creative curriculum enhances the pupils' willingness to learn as it allows teachers to deliver lessons based on themes close to them including stimulating cross-curricular activities. In less words, it has to be fun.
I have students that have been studying with me for many years now and we enjoy not only the pleasure of speaking Italian, but also the reciprocal understanding of the differences in the culture behind the language.
I am loyal and flexible to my students as much as they are with me.

These courses are endorsed and supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Since the beginning of my career as a teacher, I have provided my pupils with tailor-made programmes, that are different for children, young people and adult learners. I have experience also with Gcse and A Level exams preparation.

Tutoring Approach:
After the first assessment I customise my teaching on student's needs and requests. I always provide also details about the Italian traditions and habits. Let's say that I give to my tutees an overview about the language and the culture. I use to prepare every lesson thinking of the style and preferences of the students, in order to involve them. In one hour lesson I normally mix conversation, grammar, listening, writing and a bit of fun. As a writer, I love my language and I love to talk to people. When I teach Italian I put together both this interests. And it makes me really happy!
So, whether you are looking for some conversation classes, for a year-long weekly course or an intensive programme, I will be able to define the right path for you. Learning Italian has never been so easy!

Personal Description:
I am passionate about languages and enthusiastic about teaching language. I teach Italian and English as a foreign language to all levels and learning purposes. Before being a teacher I was a student myself and I understand how difficult can be to learn a foreign language. My lessons are tailored according to my students' needs, learning styles and personalities.

I had the opportunity to teach in different contexts, cultures and to different ages and levels. I have taught Italian to individual students and corporate clients with different language requirements and purposes. I have also conducted a preparation course for Italian GCSE and A level exams in schools across London. Previously, I taught English (EFL) to high school students and to primary school teachers in Italy. Courses included preparation for Cambridge English language examinations.

Tutoring Approach:
Some students come to me feeling unconfident and generally struggle to remember grammar rules or vocabulary, some others may not feel confident to express themselves. This is why I ensure my lessons are always motivating and fun!
I use a communicative approach where my students take active part in the lesson through understanding, thinking, eliciting and producing. My role as a teacher is to guide them through their learning process, considering their learning styles and personalities and making sure they always feel comfortable and engaged. Some activities I use include role plays, games and situational activities. Finally, one of my main goals as a teacher is to enable my students to enjoy the
experience of communicating, thinking and reacting in a foreign language.
