I do not have any official qualifications in Italian, however my background in romance languages (Italian is a Latin-based language which, broadly speaking, I find to have a very similar vocabulary to Spanish with the grammar of French!) and my methodical nature means I would ensure that every lesson is thoroughly planned and carefully checked; I would never teach you anything I am unsure of, as this can be greatly detrimental. I am not available to help with exam preparation for Italian or to teach more advanced levels. Hi, I'm half Finnish and half Irish and currently studying management at The University of Stirling. I love teaching English as a foreign language and can also teach Italian for beginners. I am doing this to earn some money alongside my studies as well as gain more experience.

Teaching Experience:
Last summer, I worked in a summer school where I was teaching English as a foreign language for six hours a day for six weeks to Italian, French, Spanish and Chinese students.

Hi, I'm graduated in Poland with a multiyear experience of abroad studies (in Italy). Actually, I live not far from Glasgow, and I'm willing to teach in this area. My everyday life is quite busy and focuses on my 6-year-old daughter matters. I'm married to Italian men (native Italian speaker, but fluent also in Polish and in English as well), so my contact with Italian, Polish and English language is continuously maintained.

I've started to teach for good in 2008 in Warsaw, where I've worked for many years as an Italian language teacher for several schools of foreign languages in Warsaw. I am an energetic and ambitious final year university student with five years of experience in tutoring. Italian is my first language but I am also fluent in English (IELTS level C1).
I have been an exchange student in 2016/17 in England and I obtained my AS levels. The year after I went back to Italy to complete my studies and gain the Italian Diploma di Stato, in which I scored 82/100. I was then back in England to obtain the A-level qualifications and I am now studying at University.

Tutoring Approach:
My methodology is quite structured, but I easily adapt to students' styles and preferences.

99% of the students who come to me want to learn how to talk to people, so I am used to this request. I help them achieve this by ensuring that they know their grammar inside and out, and by supporting them with their speaking alongside it. The more we build on the grammar, the more we can build on the speaking, simultaneously. I have personally designed 4 levels of speaking, so the activities vary based on the level the student is in and build up smoothly.
For students who are interested in long-term tutoring, I often recommend a textbook to use along with my slides. I also make use of WhatsApp to send recordings if the student is struggling with pronunciation.

Most people appreciate the importance of knowing some basic grammar before they can practice speaking, and they are open to trusting me to fill in their knowledge gaps first. Once that's done (usually after 5-6 sessions if you start from zero), I introduce them to my "level 1" speaking practice, which is about describing a picture or something that they can visually see, in short, disconnected sentences. "Level 2" would be to try and get that speech to flow a little bit better by using pronouns and particles to avoid repetition. "Level 3" would be to add a bit of made-up background to that picture. For example, if they see that the table is laid but an object is missing, such as cutlery, they can try and think of why that could be (e.g. the man forgot to put the cutlery on the table). "Level 4" will involve describing procedures or things that they can partially visualize, or that are completely abstract, for example, describing every single action taken to make a cake, or talking about a past holiday. Lastly, "level 5" involves debating about current issues or picking a topic, establishing that we have two different opinions, and the student has to try to convince me of theirs.
These "levels" vary from person to person but it provides at least an idea of how the speech develops alongside the grammar, which is present in every session.

I have recently just finished my third year at the University of St. Andrews studying Italian and Spanish. I spent my third year in Italy working as an English Language Assistant in a middle school as part of the year abroad programme.

Teaching Experience:
After having spent the last academic year as an English Language Assistant to students in a middle school in Italy, I have experience of teaching a range of different abilities and attitudes. Teaching a second language to over 120 pupils (aged 12-14) has provided with new teaching skills whilst also understanding difficulties that students overcome when learning a new language.
In my final year of sixth form, I volunteered my free time at the Preparatory School teaching introductory Spanish to pupils aged seven to ten and returned a year later during my University summer holidays.
The methodology I studied in an English Language Teaching section of a Linguistics module during my first year of University included the theory of language and learning which shapes the objectives, syllabus and activities of a lesson along with the tutor and tutee roles. In addition to this, I have also embarked upon a self-funded online teaching course for second language learning and the best tips and techniques in order for students to succeed.

Learning a language is complex task that takes a lot of practice and determination.
I tend to focus on grammar drills followed by exercises that include different topics of vocabulary, however I tailor classes to the needs of the tutee. My online classes include powerpoints, games and grammar and vocabulary exercises all through speaking or writing exercises.
As I studied for my GCSE's and A-Levels a few years ago, I have a lot of revision notes and books which are of great help and am happy to mark practice past papers for students as I know personally how helpful these are.
