Hello,
I have completed my PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at UEA. I also have an MA (Distinction) in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, and a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature. I also have a good Fine Art degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design. I have been a private tutor for twenty years, and have taught many children in that time.

I am currently tutoring in Wadebridge in Cornwall but can offer Skype or Zoom lessons.

I'm 49, married and am an aunt and godmother.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught at undergraduate level at university as well as writing skills in an academic skills centre. I have also taught SATs to thirteen year olds. I have a PTTLs degree level 4 qualification and taught on an Access Course to adult learners.

I have taught AQA and EDEXCEL syllabuses at GCSE and AQA at A-Level.

Please note that I do not teach any Eleven-Plus or verbal reasoning syllabuses and that I prefer to teach older children (13 plus)

Tutoring Approach:
I use past exam papers, model essays, and devote time and attention to close reading of set texts at GCSE and A-Level. I have also given art lessons.

I can also provide Skype and Zoom lessons and find this has been successful with older and university level students.

I have been a lecturer for the past 20 years at both college and university levels. Educated at the universities of London and Birmingham, I am an experienced tutor, teacher, lecturer and author of articles, reviews and a recent book. An historian by training, I am also interested in literature, politics and cultural studies.

My experience of education was incredible, but it might not have been were it not for the motivation and support that I received from a number of outstanding lecturers. Tutoring Approach:
One of my main aims in tutoring is to stimulate an interest in learning, by making the topic as relevant in contemporary terms as possible. Most of the subjects I tutor, from History to Religious Studies have current and on-going social consequences. I have found that making an otherwise dry topic of relevance to a student awakens an interest and desire to learn more. It is those inspirational moments when students become aware of the linkages between what they have read, and what is going on around them that makes tutoring particularly satisfying. This coupled with a growing ability to think critically, usually translates into enhanced coursework grades.

My approach to teaching is based on two fundamental bases. The first is that it is absolutely essential to find contentment in the learning process. This may not come through the actual material that needs to be learnt and it is up to the tutor to inspire in the student the self-assurance to succeed. As your tutor, I will lay down the learning structure and will cement this through detailed lesson plans. The second basis is that supervised practise testing is very important. This needs to be followed by a thorough assessment of the results, in order to understand where improvements need to be made, in both knowledge and approach.

At the younger end, I create a fun learning environment and aim to enhance originality, conscientiousness and self-assurance in the child's ability. In the longer term, I concentrate on problem areas which may have been skated over in class. For more senior students and adult learners, the same principles apply in terms of tailoring lessons to the individual. I mix core concepts with more general study skills and encourage each student to find their own way of independent learning. I am a qualified and practising secondary school teacher. Prior to my training, for the last five years I have worked full time as a tutor but have tutored alongside studying for eight years. I am a graduate of Durham (BA History), and UCL (MA Central and South Eastern European Studies).

I'm an English teacher who also loves to learn. For fun I like to dress up as a Tudor and take part in Living History events. I also very much like to take my slightly dopey dog to the beach where I regularly need to prevent her swimming to France!

Teaching Experience:
My first experience of teaching was through home-educating my daughter from when she was 6 through to GSCE-level. I then went on to do a PGCE in Lifelong Learning (post-16 education) during which time I taught a range of business and tourism modules. Since completing my PGCE I have completed short-term contracts teaching English as a Foreign Language. Having completed my first degree in French and German at Oxford University in June 2013, I returned to Belfast to complete first a MA in Medieval History, and then a further MA in Translation Studies.

At the same time, I began building up a portfolio career as a freelance tutor and translator, allowing me to live out my passion for language, literature, and culture (alongside digger manuals, pharmaceutical texts, and other oddities) on a daily basis.

I have over 15 years teaching experience, the majority of my work has been at secondary level, where my specialisms are Drama, English, English Literature, Film studies and History. My approach to tutoring is drawn from Bruner, Vygotsky and Rogers, based upon scaffolding the student to build their confidence and expertise so they begin to develop their own expertise. Within an exam for example students require a deep knowledge of understanding of what is required and therefore need support to be able to do this. Essay writing requires a different set of skills, such as being able to research a topic and move to building an argument. For many students this requires considerable scaffolding at first.

Hi, I am an ongoing university student of BA History. As I continue my studies into my final year, I have become interested in the increasing potential of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for Environmental History, the urban environment, and natural hazard management.

In conjunction with my Bachelor of Arts in History, I have been learning the Japanese language. Furthermore, I co-run Misiu i Mui Mui - an English language blog with plenty of travel inspiration for budget travel around Europe; wherein, I share my special affection for East-Central Europe and the Baltics.

Whilst am I am ongoing student of the above-mentioned modules, my second-year studies have proved to have a greater research presentation diversity (including individual and group presentations) as well as have elevated my independence as a student, namely: by requiring students to self-organise and carry out field trips around London.

▪; Volunteering and work experience: As a native Polish speaker, during my Year 1 studies I have volunteered at the King's College London Modern Language Centre. The volunteering included working with an individual student of the Polish language within a half-an-hour allotted time slot. Rather than acting as a teacher of the Polish language, the sessions focused upon one-to-one language interaction in preparation for the student's written, oral examinations, as well as providing language immersion with a native Polish speaker.

I have studied History at both A Level (Witchcraze, US Civil War and Westward Expansion and the Mid-Tudor Crisis and the Elizabethan Period) and GCSE level (Britain: Power and the People, the Interwar Period 1918-1939, Elizabethan Period and Russia 1980-1945). I have also studied Government and Politics at A Level in which covered UK and Government, Ideologies (Socialism, Conservatism, Liberalism and Feminism) and Global Politics.

Teaching Experience:
I have several paid teaching experiences. However, I have experience tutoring a Year 11 student to help them prepare for their upcoming exams.

Tutoring Approach:
I have found that in essay subjects it is helpful to break down each question that could come up in an exam into the assessment objectives required. I hope to help the student realise how to meet these objectives in their essays under timed conditions. This can be achieved through essay plans and mind maps once the content has been reviewed.

I am an experienced tutor, based in North-East Lincolnshire. I have many years of teaching under my belt, as well as experience of marking for exam boards. I am a dad and enjoy studying History and watching rugby.

I have over 14 years of experience teaching in secondary schools in England. I have taught primarily History but also RS, Humanities, Geography, Citizenship and English. I have taught students of many different levels of attainment and from many different backgrounds.

I have taught History to A Level with experience of teaching units on Nazi Germany, the history of medicine, Elizabethan England, the American West, the Cold War, the Inter-War years, Civil Rights in America. As a historian, I specialise in medieval and early modern history.
