Hello! My name is Anatoli and I'm a language tutor, translator and performing artist. I'm passionate about languages, texts and words and I love teaching!

I was born and raised in Greece and I lived for eight years in Germany before moving to the UK, where I've been based since 2010. I hold a a BA in Greek Philology with specialization in Linguistics (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens), a PhD in Cultural Studies with a thesis discussing the concept of the Total Work of Art ('Gesamtkunstwerk') in the context of cinema (Humboldt University of Berlin), an MA in Acting (15 Acting School, University of Essex) and a PGCert in Physical Theatre (Royal Holloway, University of London). I combine my diverse influences and interests into various forms of expression and creativity, including writing, song-writing, theatre-making and photography. EXAM TECHNIQUE: I also ensure that we are always working on exam and revision techniques while learning. This includes helpful mnemonics, studying past papers and mark schemes, and ensuring we are engaging closely with the relevant syllabus to pick up as many marks as possible when it comes to exams.

TIPS AND TRICKS: I like to build routine into tuition sessions, so that the student knows what to expect in each session, which helps boost their confidence, and so that grammar which can seem strange and unfamiliar at first becomes second nature. I've got plenty of tips and tricks to help with the most difficult parts of grammar and syntax. It's useful to break things down into smaller chunks - for example, the large set texts can be daunting, but they become manageable when taken piece by piece.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tuition will of course largely be dependent upon the needs and ability of the respective tutee. For GCSE or A-level students, however, I believe that it would always be best to begin each lesson with a quick test on a point of grammar and vocabulary, and a literary stylistic feature (e.g. identifying a chiasmus etc.), since these formal aspects essentially underlie the series of unseen exams from GCSE - A-level. After this test, each lesson should focus on a text, ideally alternating each lesson with a text that is prescribed as one of the set texts for the respective exams with an unseen passage. This approach tends to produce the best results since the unseen passages give a true indication of the student's strengths and weaknesses and help the tutor to understand more easily what aspects need to be prioritised.

I've been living in England since 2013. I'm a native Greek speaker. Grown up in Greece and graduated from the Panteion University, in Athens, with a degree in Political Science and International Law and Politics.

Teaching Experience:
Practiced English private tutoring for children in Greece for 6 years and I have been teaching the Greek language in England since 2015.

Evaluation of the student's knowledge of the language and then adopting a flexible program of teaching, in order to achieve the best
performance by the student, at any time. Patience and very good knowledge of the Greek language and etymology of the Greek words, ensure excellent results!

I am Alexandra, a native and qualified Greek and Russian teacher and interpreter. I hold an MA in Russian from the University of Glasgow with distinction in Spoken Russian and a BA in Ancient & Modern Greek from Democritus University of Greece. Additionally, I have a Certificate in Public Service Interpreting from Glasgow Clyde College. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I specialise in helping students of all levels excel in both Greek and Russian.

Teaching Experience:
For the past decade, I have had the pleasure of combining my work as a professional interpreter with my passion for teaching Greek and Russian as foreign languages. This journey has been incredibly fulfilling. I've taught students of all ages and backgrounds, from young learners to adults, and have successfully helped many pass important language certifications such as the GCSE, TORFL, and the Certification of Attainment in Greek.
