Although I learned all my foreign languages through a rigorous method very much based on writing and grammar, I am happy to adapt my method to my pupil's needs. Tutoring Approach:
My approach to proof-editing / English checking is to look primarily at the language. For some clients - university students in particular - it is not appropriate to offer an editorial service as this goes against the rules of university submissions. However, where I think a mistake has been made or something is not clearly expressed - and it is not a simple matter of correcting the language - then I will flag it up to the student so they can look at it again.

My main aim with my tutees is to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. To this end I concentrate on teaching the skills they require to achieve the grades they want. My role is not to replace the teaching they get at school but to compliment it so a tutoring session could concentrate on planning an essay the student has been asked to write or going through specific areas the student needs help with. I won't necessarily give homework - unless required - as I feel students have enough to do without me adding to their workload.

In return I expect my students to engage with the sessions. They don't have to like the subject and of course I'm there to help those who don't understand some things or just need a little help or encouragement, but the student must be prepared to be tutored.

My name is Andy. I finished my A-Levels in 2011 and am preparing to study German and Russian at The University of Cambridge starting in October. I excelled at languages in school, receiving an A* in German A2 and an A in French AS. Russian is my native Language that I teach to all levels of students. I speak fluent German that I teach up to A-Level.

Art is my calling and my biggest passion. I paint artworks in Art Deco style using oils and acrylics. I'm proficient in many Fine-Art techniques and have deep knowledge of art history.I have experience teaching Fine-Art in the schools where I have worked primarily with GCSE and A-Level students.

Tutoring Approach:
I tailor my Russian and German lessons to the student's learning goals, academic needs, required vocabulary and situations the language will be used at. My lessons are interactive and fun. I focus on vocabulary, grammar learning, speaking and understanding and cover the most interesting topics of the culture, literature, art and traditions of Russia and Germany. For the younger age ( and not only) I offer fun educational games. My ambition is to help students to improve their foreign language proficiency and to achieve their life goals.

I have over 20 years of experience teaching online classes to students of all age groups. I am a semi-retired teacher and am a very passionate and experienced teacher. I am a keen sportswoman and musician. I have three adult children.

Teaching Experience:
I have over 25 years of teaching in Secondary schools and since 2019 I have been teaching adults and GCSE and A level French and German. My group of GCSE German students and my A level German students achieved outstanding results in 2023.I also teach private students at highly regarded English independent schools.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is always student-centred and I use innovative methods of teaching to promote and support learning. I encourage students to be active participants in their own learning and support with developing transferable skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking and reflective thinking. I have also worked with several students who have needed extra help and reassurance due to having anxiety issues and with my support, my students are able to take control of their learning and achieve the success they deserve.
