I am a native speaker of Italian with a degree in European Languages and extensive teaching experience. I have been based in Oxford for almost 20 years, after having lived in different European countries. I privilege the communicative approach as after all languages are made to communicate! I have run absolute beginners intensive courses and my aim is to allow the student(s) to go home speaking from the first time, however little it might be. At the same time, I also tend not to forget about grammar as it is the structure of the language and gives a better insight and understanding, but even grammar doesn't necessarily need to be taught in a very conservative manner.

Although I learned all my foreign languages through a rigorous method very much based on writing and grammar, I am happy to adapt my method to my pupil's needs. Personally, I believe that conversation is the key to becoming fluent in a language, but at the same time I do not neglect the importance of writing and reading comprehension. I am an extremely well qualified and experienced teacher of modern languages. I worked in many schools in the UK and for the most part as head of MFL. I also worked in China and Germany teaching English. Since retiring from full time teaching I have been teaching private lessons. I hold a BA degree in German language and literature, and a PhD degree in Turkish language and literature. I also have a certificate to teach Turkish as a foreign language. I have translated four works from German into Turkish, two of which are still in press.

Teaching Experience:
I can summarise my teaching experience as follows:
- Language teaching and education consultancy at several language schools in Turkey for ten years.
- Private tuitions since 2012.
- Lecturing at two universities (in Turkey and Cyprus) for one year.
- Preparation for language proficiency exams.

Tutoring Approach:
I use the following methods: the Communicative Language Teaching and the Direct Method (for those who want to learn the language for a general purpose), the Structural Approach and the Lexical Syllabus together with the Direct Method (for Turkish people to speak their mother tongue appropriately), the Grammar-Translation and the Structural Approach (for Ottoman Turkish).
However, the most appropriate approach should be decided on before the tuition, depending on the learners and their needs.

Hello! It's me Jahmai, bilingual native German teacher, I have a degree in English, Psychology and Musicology from the Christian-Albrecht-University in Kiel, Germany. I have over 20 years of experience teaching online classes to students of all age groups.
