I am a native French speaker, born and educated in Paris, but I have been living in England for over 30 years and married an Englishman. I graduated from the Sorbonne University with a view to teaching English there but when I came to England as a French assistante. A year later, having completed my Master's degree I cam back to settle in England and soon qualified as a French teacher. Studying French and Spanish at University College London gave me the incredible opportunity to live in Madrid for a year, where I became fluent in Spanish. I am a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Bath with a strong academic background in Maths, Chemistry, and French. Having achieved 44 points in the IB and completed IGCSEs, I am familiar with the A-Level, GCSE, and IB curriculums and understand the challenges students face in these subjects.

With firsthand experience in these rigorous programs, I know what it takes to excel in exams, master complex topics, and develop strong problem-solving skills. Whether you're aiming for top grades or just need extra support, I provide structured, engaging, and personalized tutoring to help students build confidence and reach their full potential.

Teaching Experience:
I have experience tutoring Maths and Chemistry across different levels, including GCSE and younger students, helping them build a strong foundation and excel in their exams. My background in IB and IGCSE (achieving 44 points in IB) gives me firsthand insight into advanced curricula like A-Level and IB, allowing me to guide students effectively in tackling challenging topics and mastering exam techniques.

Tutoring Approach:
I focus on reviewing and building on class material, ensuring that students have a solid understanding of key concepts before tackling more advanced problems. Each lesson is tailored to the student's needs, with special attention given to challenge areas to boost confidence and improve performance.

A key part of my approach is exam preparation, where I emphasize effective revision strategies, exam techniques, and past paper practice. I help students develop the skills needed to analyze questions, manage time efficiently, and apply their knowledge effectively under exam conditions.

Teaching Experience:
I have been Modern Languages teacher for 18 years and I am dedicated to sharing my passion for Spanish, Italian and French with my students. I love tutoring as I can tailor sessions to meet the needs of each learner. I have a had a lot of success in the past with learners of all ages as I have taught from nursery age to adult learners. I am also an SQA marker for Higher and Advanced Higher Spanish and bring all of I have learned from this experience to support my students.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced language teacher with a PGCE and a degree in Modern Languages from Oxford University. I have also completed an MA in Linguistics, specialising in second/third language acquisition. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy travelling, reading, cooking and going to the cinema.

Teaching Experience:
I have twelve years of experience in teaching French and Spanish at secondary school level, both from KS3 to A Level. I have worked in both state and private schools, and in mixed school as well as boys/girls schools. I have taught both in class and online, and currently also work for an online school offering British-system education to students from around the world.

Classes/subjects that I can offer:
- K3 French and Spanish, to equip students with the grammar, vocabulary and exam skills in preparation for GCSE
- GCSE French and Spanish - I have in-depth knowledge of the courses (AQA, Edexcel, Edexcel IGCSE, Cambridge IGCSE) and the exam skills required. I can offer classes tailored to a particular skills (e.g. speaking or writing) or more general classes
- A Level French and Spanish - I have experience in teaching the specifications for AQA, Edexcel, Edexcel International, Eduqas and WJEC. I am able to provide tuition on the film element of the course (La Haine, Intouchables, Les 400 coups, Volver, El laberinto del fauno) and the literature element (Un sac de billes, Bonjour tristesse, No et moi, L'Etranger, Como agua para chocolate, Cronica de una muerte anunciada, La casa de Bernarda Alba).

Tutoring Approach:
My approach depends on the objective of my students. I try to include a variety of activities to cover the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, to ensure that progress is made across all skills areas. For students wishing to learn a language for academic purposes, I obviously also include grammar and vocabulary. For students who are more interested in functional language skills, my main focus is on communication via speaking, and using authentic resources to prepare them for life/holidays in a foreign country.
