I realised long ago that it isn't easy for some students to reach their potential in large classes where perhaps a natural lack of confidence, shyness, peer pressure or even less-than-ideal behaviour from others in the classroom can work against even their best efforts. My first session is normally spent working out the best tutoring technique, how motivated the student is and what sort of ability they are.
