Being lucky enough to go to Cambridge, I was blown away by the power of small group teaching, having been used to large classes my whole life. Learning happens best one on one. I take a very informal, interactive, animated and personable approach to teaching. This is not school, we don't have rules. This is a place to learn and excel. It's all the good bits of the Cambridge supervision system without any of the formality or anxiety.

I'm Mel, a father of three children living in Manchester. I tutor for entrance exams and GCSE and KS3 Maths, English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Additionally I tutor A level Biology and welcome adult learners.

Teaching Experience:
For the last ten years I have tutored hundreds of students in Maths, English, Biology, chemistry and Physics. I've also taught a number of students in the US, China, Russia, Canada and many countries in Europe. To date I have taught 20,000+ lessons.

Tutoring Approach:
I like to keep a flexible teaching style to work out what is best for each student.

Depending on what you need help with, we`ll work together in your first lesson to design a plan that will take you to where you need to be.

This might involve practising your maths skills, gaining confidence with concepts on the syllabus, or translating your knowledge more effectively into marks on your exam. Many students struggle with exam technique and it is definitely something a little tutoring can help with.

I have developed plenty of resources through my experience as a tutor to help students learn the key concepts on the biology syllabus for GCSE and A Level, and to get better at using this to tackle the harder exam questions. We`ll use a combination of slideshows, online whiteboard tasks, lots of discussion, and past paper practice to help you get the marks you need.
