I am currently a grade-one "outstanding" teacher in my present school, and have been delivering KS3, GCSE and A Level English, Maths and History in the secondary and sixth-form sectors for the past 16 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 "outstanding" rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience as an "Advanced Practitioner"-tasked with turning around failing cohorts in some of the UK's toughest classrooms, as well as my time as an examiner for a variety of GCSE/A Level exam boards.

Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent public figures including Premiership footballers, Olympic athletes, luminaries of the business world, and even the family of a Nobel Prize winner for a month-which was awesome!

I have a broad range of experience turning around struggling students in some of the UK's toughest classrooms, as well as challenging high achieving learners in the pursuit of academic excellence. In my teaching and tutoring career thus far, I have taught across the curriculum age-ranges (7-18 years), as well as undergraduate and postgraduate level students, and specialise in teaching troubled learners lacking confidence, whilst pushing very bright pupils.

In the critical examination of literature, particular attention is given to structure and developing a mature, yet fresh, personal response. I tend to adopt a modelling approach. Effectively, the tutee and I draft a first core essay on a given text, say, for example, 'Romeo and Juliet' Using this exemplar, the tutee is then assigned further essay questions, drawing upon this core essay as a guideline. Support is given throughout the writing process and constructive feedback is offered in the form of stage-appropriate targets to ensure progress.

My teaching philosophy is simple: 'All Can'. I genuinely believe that everyone has the ability to learn, develop and succeed with the right guidance, a little hard work and a good cup of coffee!

I hold a PGCE in Drama, a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre from Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and a Master's degree in Acting from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Alongside my teaching career, I have professional acting experience across theatre, film, television, radio and musical theatre.

As a qualified Drama and Performing Arts teacher, I also have extensive experience teaching English Language, English Literature, History and Sociology up to A-Level. I offer tutoring across a range of qualifications, including entrance assessments, GCSEs, A-Levels and performing arts examinations.

I have experience with CCEA, AQA, Edexcel, BTEC, LAMDA, LCM and OCN qualifications. My work as an examiner for CCEA and BTEC gives me valuable insight into assessment criteria, exam technique and what students need to demonstrate to achieve the highest grades.

I'm particularly proud of my 100% success rate in supporting students to secure places on their chosen university courses.

However, for me, teaching is about much more than examination results. I want my students to become confident, independent learners who genuinely enjoy their subjects. Whether I'm helping someone understand Shakespeare, improve their essay writing or prepare for an important examination, my aim is always to make learning feel accessible and rewarding.

I also hold a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Learners with Specific Learning Difficulties and have experience supporting students with a wide range of special educational needs. I regularly undertake continuing professional development, am first-aid trained and hold an enhanced DBS check.

Above all, I bring enthusiasm, creativity and a genuinely individual approach to every lesson. I want students to leave feeling more capable, more confident and proud of what they can achieve.

Teaching Experience:
My teaching experience spans from Primary through to Degree level, having worked across a wide range of educational settings, including specialist Performing Arts and Drama Schools, state Grammar and Secondary Schools, and Further and Higher Education colleges.

I have extensive experience supporting students with a variety of learning needs, including dyslexia, ADHD, autism (ASD) and other special educational needs. I recognise that no two students learn in exactly the same way, so I tailor my teaching methods to suit each individual's strengths, challenges and goals. My approach is patient, encouraging and adaptable, ensuring that every student feels supported and capable of making progress.

Alongside my teaching experience, I work as an examiner and moderator across GCSE/Level 2 and A-Level/Level 3 qualifications, including Drama, English Literature and Performing Arts. This gives me valuable insight into the examination and assessment process, particularly what examiners are looking for and how students can demonstrate their knowledge effectively.

I use this experience to help students develop strong exam technique, structure their responses confidently, understand assessment objectives and approach examinations with a clear strategy.

I have worked as a primary school teacher for over a decade, a secondary SEND teacher, a private tutor as well as spending time working as a Governess/nanny in Russia. My most recent teaching observation feedback stated that 'You have a positive, purposeful and engaging learning environment fostered and your team work is seamless. Superb high quality modelling of skills and you extended all learning while planning in the moment. Provision is high quality and strong, positive relationships were displayed by all.' I am a highly enthusiastic, caring and driven teacher with a wide range of experience teaching within the EYFS, KS1, KS2 and SEND (KS3, KS4, Post-16) - following the English National Curriculum, Development Matters EYFS framework and Functional skills and SEND curriculum. This is shown in my recent promotion to Wellbeing Coordinator of my school. I have worked in a wide range of schools, giving me broad experience across areas such as successful differentiation, progression, behaviour management techniques, and aspects such as working with children with SEN and learning EAL. I have a lot of skill deconstructing film and media and I specialise in the psychology of representation in film & television. I love fine art and also popular forms and have a large collection of comics that I will not be parted from. I have a strong aesthetic sense and I know how to communicate meaningfully. I have 20+ years' experience as a 1-to-1 tutor working in schools and further education colleges, specialising in English, Media and Film Studies. I have supported academic study and essay-writing with students at secondary, FE and undergraduate levels. I have helped students decide what they want from education and have received one or two glowing reviews.

I help students identify their thoughts and feelings in relation to whatever they are studying. If they can find their own interest, that is key to unlocking their potential (academically and/or professionally). I help students to think in new directions and create new connections, so that they can develop their responses and learn how to articulate them.
