Hello my name is Anne-Marie, I am from Ireland but have been living in the UK since 2004. This is now a place I call home. I realised I had a flare for imparting knowledge when I became a basketball trainer at 15, working with Primary and Secondary pupils. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, saw the progress the pupils I trained had made and knew from that moment that teaching was my vocation as it was and is so rewarding. My form was involved in fundraising activities and have participated in assemblies. I like to use an approach that suits the students I teach. I discuss what needs they have and what their interests are and work from there. I like to be well-prepared yet flexible when necessary. I like to do kineasthetic activities to keep the students engaged in their learning and use a variety of resources to enable my students to gain as much confidence when speaking, reading writing etc.

I also create an environment where my students feel safe and at ease when learning meaning they are not afraid to make mistakes and are keen to build on this and see that mistakes are evidence of effort.

When I meet a student for the first time I always believe in taking time to know them. By this I mean their well being and /or state of mind. For example, if a student has come to class only because someone has insisted, then learning will be a chore. Or if they have personal problems, or they are hungry, tired or ill then we will not get very far. So I will take a few minutes to chat and get to know their state of mind as well as reassure them before we start and if there is anything I can do to settle them then that is what I will do first. My approach to proof-editing / English checking is to look primarily at the language. For some clients - university students in particular - it is not appropriate to offer an editorial service as this goes against the rules of university submissions. However, where I think a mistake has been made or something is not clearly expressed - and it is not a simple matter of correcting the language - then I will flag it up to the student so they can look at it again.

My main aim with my tutees is to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. To this end I concentrate on teaching the skills they require to achieve the grades they want. My role is not to replace the teaching they get at school but to compliment it so a tutoring session could concentrate on planning an essay the student has been asked to write or going through specific areas the student needs help with. I usually teach a student once per week, but if it is necessary, I am willing to top it up by teaching the same student twice a week even. I also offer the first lesson at half price as a an introductory lesson.
My lessons usually last an hour, but I am also happy to top it up to two hours, with a 5-10 minute break, upon request.
Any cancellations or changing of schedules should be noted within 24 hours at least.
I am also more than happy to teach more than one student at the same time within a "classroom style setting" online, given that the students are doing the same subject at a more or less equal level.
I am available every day, including weekends, and I am flexible with time as well.
At the end of every lesson, I will always give homework to students and expect them to do it until our next lesson. I am however tolerant in unforeseen circumstances, or if any other personal issue arises.
At the beginning of every lesson and after checking the homework, I shall ask short questions related to previous lessons. Thus, I expect students to learn and take notes from every I teach on their own initiative, although I will remind this every now and then.
As a tutor, I am also aware that time is very valuable for every lesson. This is why I ensure that no lesson will be wasted by teaching topics already known by the student.
Finally, I also like to make my lessons fun and entertaining, as I have always found this the best way to learn. This is why I will offer the students the freedom to choose which topics to discuss that would fit with their interests or hobbies, as well as offering them tasks that would make learning more entertaining as well as educational.

Hi! I'm Alie and I am lover of healthy living, music, dance, nature and personal development.

I grew up in England, with an English father, and a Spanish mother. I have always been fascinated by language and communication and I love travelling and meeting people of different nationalities and cultures. I have also lived in Spain, Oman and Turkey.

I know what it takes to learn a new language and how important it is to stay motivated and consistent! I have A Levels in Spanish and French and I am currently learning Turkish.

I love helping people to pursue their goals which is why I am also a Certified Wellness & Confidence Coach. I am warm, patient and accommodating.

Teaching Experience:
I have 3 years experience (as a speech & language therapist & learning support teacher) supporting non-native English students (in both primary and high school) with their English learning and to better access the British curriculum.

I also have 1 year of private and online teaching experience and I am always supporting my international friends with their English writing and speaking skills!

Tutoring Approach:
My aim is to make your learning feel fun, meaningful and empowering and for you to feel as comfortable as possible in expressing yourself - including making mistakes and asking any questions you have!

My lessons are typically 60 minutes.

I teach all ages, from beginner to advanced. Perhaps you want to learn or improve your English at school, for work, holidays, travel, communicating with English-speaking family or friends or just for fun! I am here to tailor our lessons to your needs and goals.

I`m a French bi-lingual (French native) opera singer currently based in Brighton. I teach French and English privately (my youngest students are 3, and the eldest 50+ !) and I`m happy to teach online or in person (max 10 mile radius from Brighton).

My teaching style is relaxed but attentive, and I tailor all sessions to your needs and currently work within the remit of the 3 main UK examination boards. I have good flexibility for daytime / evening sessions, so do get in touch if this is something which might be of interest!
