I have a particular interest in grammar and feel that it is very difficult to have a good grasp of a language without some grammar competency. This is especially important for A Level examinations. Although I learned all my foreign languages through a rigorous method very much based on writing and grammar, I am happy to adapt my method to my pupil's needs. Personally, I believe that conversation is the key to becoming fluent in a language, but at the same time I do not neglect the importance of writing and reading comprehension. I believe the greatest benefit of 1:1 tutoring (or tutoring small groups), is that it is so much easier to tailor the learning to the student's needs, aiding understanding and building on that towards mastery of a subject. I formerly taught English as a Foreign Language, and have a Diploma in this area of teaching (DELTA), so can offer EFL to adults or children. This includes English conversation, pronunciation and help with proof-reading.

Students get on well with me and tell me that I am very enthusiastic, but also patient, allowing individuals to flourish. I have a talent for building confidence, explaining things clearly. And for those students who are aiming for the top grades, I am used to stretching my students.

I currently teach part-time in a co-ed independent secondary school in Outer London. I was previously Head of Geography at a leading independent girls' school in Central London.
I have been an examiner for AQA. In total I have 16+ years of teaching experience in secondary schools.

Prior to Geography teaching I taught English as a Foreign Language to adults overseas and in the UK. For this I qualified with the DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching).

Tutoring Approach:
I will aim to have only around 3 or 4 students from September. Preparation and marking time is important to me.
