I trained as a primary school teacher but resigned after 16 years mainly because I wanted to travel and broaden my experiences. When I meet a student for the first time I always believe in taking time to know them. By this I mean their well being and /or state of mind. I am currently a grade-one "outstanding" teacher in my present school, and have been delivering KS3, GCSE and A Level English, Maths and History in the secondary and sixth-form sectors for the past 16 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding results and innovative teaching methods, I have served as Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 "outstanding" rating for the 6 years in which I held the post. Furthermore, I also have extensive experience as an "Advanced Practitioner"-tasked with turning around failing cohorts in some of the UK's toughest classrooms, as well as my time as an examiner for a variety of GCSE/A Level exam boards.

Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent public figures including Premiership footballers, Olympic athletes, luminaries of the business world, and even the family of a Nobel Prize winner for a month-which was awesome!

I'm a native Russian speaker originally from Kaliningrad who moved to the UK in 1996. These days, I've lived in Yorkshire longer than I lived in Russia, so my life is very much shaped by both cultures. I love sharing my passion for languages and helping students discover the richness of both Russian and English.

I am a qualified teacher in both Russia and the UK, and I hold degrees in English from Kaliningrad State University, Linguistics from the University of York, and Interpreting from the University of Bradford. As the mother of a bilingual son, I have a particular interest in language learning for bilingual children. Congratulations for choosing the most challenging and complicating language to learn! Good news: Russian is fascinating, by the end of the "journey", you will be confident enough to speak to a Russian in the street or even upgrade your page with information in Russian, to strike your friends with a few bespoken facts about Russia or probably invite your friends to join you for the mountain climbing in the Altai or kayaking in Baikal Lake. I should warn you may fall in love with Russian language and may even dare to start an advanced course after which you are very likely to wake up one morning with a strong desire to see Bolshoi Ballet or fall asleep with "War and Peace" in your hands.

Let me briefly describe you my past experience. I was born in Saint-Petersburg and graduated from Russain State University of Foreign Languages, I have a master's degree in teaching of modern languages. I have been working first at school, then privately for more than 15 years.

I started teaching Russian at Trent College in Derbyshire as an extra-curricular activity for a group of students in year 7-8 and 9, providing all the teaching materials and authentic programme. I covered all the main parts in terms of philology and diverse the lessons with curious facts about the country, traditions and customs. At the end of one term course, students had basic skills in reading and writing, they were able to introduce themselves and speak on common themes (hobbies, cuisine, travelling etc). Later I started to assist students in their preparations for GCSE and A levels in Russian. At the moment, I have positive reviews from my students who passed GCSE and A Levels on A and A*. I also conduct exams for a few private schools in the area.

After relocating to Cornwall, I prepared my own Russian course, which I delivered in Tree Language School in Truro. Having good communication skills, I was able to quickly maintain effective relationships with students, parents and colleagues. Students appreciated my ability to explain in a clear way with appropriate sample illustrations using a variety of media and soon after the first group of experienced learners finished the course, I recieved excellent references and we managed to form a new group.
