I am a graduate in Physics with Astrophysics, which was a four year degree, which included me living and learning in Italy. My degree was challenging yet enjoyable, and contained a lot of Maths, which to me was great! As a born communicator writing and teaching have always appealed, and having spent the last decade tutoring and working for the Institute of Physics, I can definitely say I enjoy it as much now as I did when I started.. My approach to proof-editing / English checking is to look primarily at the language. For some clients - university students in particular - it is not appropriate to offer an editorial service as this goes against the rules of university submissions. However, where I think a mistake has been made or something is not clearly expressed - and it is not a simple matter of correcting the language - then I will flag it up to the student so they can look at it again.

My main aim with my tutees is to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. To this end I concentrate on teaching the skills they require to achieve the grades they want. My approach to teaching is to make sure students are understanding the concepts and not just memorising it. To achieve this, I make sure my classes are more visual and interactive so students are able to focus on the work and understand the material much easier.

Hi, my name's Alan and I'm a friendly, approachable and hardworking tutor, having now tutored full-time for three years (part-time for 24 years alongside my teaching career).

Teaching Experience:
I have taught since 2002 in a range of secondary schools, as well as primary provisions, GCSE evening and weekend schools and both online and face to face for individual tuition from Primary level (Year 2) to Adult learners. I have been Head of Department for English and Media and also responsible for whole-school Literacy, including working with students who required extra support in moving from KS2 to KS3. I have taught English Language and Literature at most levels, English as a foreign language, Media and Film Studies and Study Skills, amongst other things. I have full QTS in the UK as well as Europe and a full, clean, updated DBS available.

Tutoring Approach:
I take a very technical, scientific approach to teaching English and Literacy - looking at each area of development in turn and working towards mastery. For GCSE, I offer an approach that is designed to meet the requirements of the mark scheme without too much stress: students find my approach easy to access and engaging, using both official and my own personal resources. Students receive the PowerPoint of notes at the end of each session for revision purposes and I often use low-stakes testing to revise and review key areas of learning. I also regularly set and assess via exam questions to further check understanding and ensure students are making progress.

I've recently graduated from studying English at Exeter College, Oxford and have began teaching full time. I love reading, music, dancing and travel - mainly things that bring me closer to understanding and connecting with people. Hi, I'm Johnette and I have a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a post-graduate teaching qualification in Secondary Education. I have over ten years teaching experience in bilingual, state and international schools.

Teaching Experience:
I've been teaching KS2 - A levels History and Geography, Humanities and English as a Foreign Language in classroom and online settings (majority of my students are from Asia, the Middle East and Europe). I used to work in a secondary school in England and have a full DBS/ police check. I'm also a CIE History Assessment Specialist/ Assistant Examiner.

I'm offering tailored lessons to help you or your child learn History and/or Geography on all specifications (eg. CAIE, IB, Edexcel International, AP) as I have a thorough knowledge of the requirements for all of these. Hi, I'm Meg and I'm currently a student at York St John University studying English Language, Linguistics and TESOL in my second year. I'm 20 years old and have a love for languages and I'm in the process of self studying Korean and Japanese!

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored a number of my close friends in Korean as I've been learning via self study for close to 7 years and I have always had great feedback from them. But, I would love to expand my experience to of teaching to English to people, as I love sharing my own language with people. I'm currently studying TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at university and am eager to put my studies into practise.
