Tutoring Approach:
I believe one to one private tuition requires a tutor who can adapt to the needs of the pupil. Ideally (although not crucially-entirely online is also possible) I would wish to meet the pupil initially to establish how they may best be assisted and what the pupil's key areas of concern are. Each mind, young or old, needs different approaches and I believe my strongest ability is an adaptability to meet the varying needs and requirements of every student.

My approach, in most cases would be to follow a curriculum, finding out where their difficulties lie within this curriculum and how it would be best to resolve them.

I tend to use past papers when it comes to exam based tuition as this is ultimately what they will be faced with come exam time! However, when I have a pupil for longer there is more scope for more imaginative teaching or simply assistance with difficult homework.

With each of my previous pupils I have needed and been able to assist them in a way that is individually appealing to them and I have never had a pupil who has not achieved their desired results.

I trained as an actor at Arts Educational schools and have forty years experience working as an actor, director, writer and trainer. For ten years I worked as an audio director, directing many of the UK's leading actors in recordings of 150 audio books, poetry collections and drama. As a writer I have seen my plays produced in repertory theatre and by small touring companies and have also written for TV. I have been coaching people in presentation skills, acting and elocution since 2003. I teach young adults aged 18 and over and adults of any age.

As Senior Teacher/ Teacher in Charge, of a Medical Pupil Referral Unit I headed up a dedicated team of skilled teachers who worked with young people on a 1:1 and small group basis. I am well aware of the current concerns with the mental health of young people and aim to support those I work with in a positive and sensitively focused manner. Many of my student's have experienced exam anxiety, dyslexia and learning difficulties which has made school a problematic environment for them. I am a working actor and a Graduate of the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Before going to drama school I went to The University of Nottingham where I achieved a first class degree in English Language and Literature. I am self-motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about Drama and English.

I studied English Literature at Edinburgh University, graduating with a First Class Masters in 1999, before going on to train as an actor at the prestigious London Academy of Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2001. Since graduating, I have worked extensively as an actor in theatre, television and radio and since 2007 I have worked very closely with acclaimed theatre company The Factory as an associate producer and director as well as an actor. I have a wide-ranging interest in the arts (from contemporary music through to cinema and the visual arts) as well as an active interest in politics and current affairs. Personal Description:
I have been involved in Education for over twenty years and I am especially passionate about the English Language, which is where my expertise lies. I graduated with a B.Ed (Hons) Degree in Education; English and Drama being my specialist subjects. I have worked as a Primary School Teacher both on contact and as a supply teacher where I gained extensive experience in all primary age groups. I also have experience in tutoring for GCSE English.

I have also worked aso a Private Tutor both in English and Primary Mathematics. (As well as other subjects in the curriculum) I am currently working for several teaching agencies on a supply basis so I am keeping up to date with any curriculum changes.

I have recently completed TEFL Course and have experience in teaching English as a foreign/second language; both with adults and children.

I believe in creating a positive and stimulating environment for learning and feel tailor made programmes are vital for the learner.

I see myself as friendly and approachable and I love nothing more than to see people achieve at their own pace.

My hobbies are Cooking, photography, walking and swimming. I love spending time with family and friends. I am also passionate about animals and their welfare.

Teaching Experience:
Oldbury Park Primary School 1993 to 1999 both contract and supply working full-time. I covered every year from reception to year 6.

1999 to 2004 I raised my family but continued to work as a supply teacher in a variety of schools as well as working as a private tutor.

2004 to present. I have been working as a supply teacher/tutor, teaching classes and groups of children and adults English and Mathematics. I have also concentrated on studying for my TEFL Qualification and have been teaching English as a foreign/second language. I have experience of tutoring in groups and on a one to one basis. I have also taught on a corporate level within a company teaching Spanish staff English.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a very positive and friendly approach to teaching and learning. lt is vital to create lessons which are fun, varied and tailored to match individual needs. I treat everyone, whether in a group or on a one to one basis, as an individual and fully encourage students to work at their own pace.

Learning most definitely should be an enjoyable experience for the learner and a rewarding one for the tutor. I am well organised and also believe in creating lessons, which have been well planned with aims and objectives as well as offering continuity.

Lessons should also contain a variety of tasks, which should include written, verbal and computer based activities to maintain enthusiasm.

Personal Description:
I have recently graduated from LAMDA which is a professional acting school in London. I can help with monologues in Shakespeare/contemporary or any text you desire to work on. I would be happy to help on anything!

Teaching Experience:
I have taught children from the age of 5-17 at two different acting schools - I love seeing children improve in confidence and ability.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is simple but effective. You must strip everything back and play the real truth of the character to convey the real emotion, then this will affective the audience. I like to work in a fun and safe environment but which also challenges you to achieve the best of your ability.

Personal Description:
I am an avid reader who also loves singing and teaching. I studied English and Drama at Queen's University and then went to Newcastle Upon Tyne to study for a secondary English and Drama PGCE (teaching qualification). I have also worked as a full time youth worker and love working with young people. I have tutored adults and children in my spare time. More recently I have worked as a substitute teacher in Primary and Secondary and had a baby!

Teaching Experience:
I have taught secondary English for 15 years to all ability levels. I have also tutored pupils in their homes and from home and have marked GCSE English Language. I have taught primary pupils and further education pupils and taught some TEFL (English as a foreign language) too!

Tutoring Approach:
I like to get to know the person and try and tailor my approach to their needs. I have used many techniques including mnemonics to help pupils break exam questions down into smaller chunks and structure their response to ensure they thoroughly answer their questions. I also enjoy helping spark pupils' creative ideas for developing writing tasks. I try and encourage pupils to take ownership of what they write and foster awareness of how grammatical errors can go unnoticed if work is never planned or edited sufficiently.

As well as being a full-time private tutor for nearly 15 years, I have a background in comedy, writing and performance. I've published three humour books and continue to write for theatre companies and private events. I also love art and illustration, and try incorporate this into my teaching where possible - for all ages! I currently live in South-West London with my husband and two young children.

Teaching Experience:
Since I'm a University student, I prefer conducting online classes the most where it can suit my lecture/tutorial schedule the best ! I'm a very bubbly and cheerful person, so studying won't all just be books and papers, chit chats will be coming in the full package as well ! I've tutored kids between the age of 5-10 before for English so I believe my patience level is well equipped as one the top qualities I have as a teacher ! You definitely won't be studying alone on your learning journey with me !


Just remember, being 'gifted' or not doesn't matter ! Studies all honestly revolve around your effort and originality to it ! If 'gifted' people can memorize/learn content easily on their second try, I'll just do it on my fifth try then. Resilience and uniqueness are the key of honing yourself from an academic victim to an academic weapon, no matter the age, place, subject or even difficulty of it !
