I am a computer science graduate and have over 10 experience working within the IT sector as a programmer, Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Database Developer and then as an IT consultant. Having worked in at least 6 different companies including the NHS, I currently work with a major Bank as a Business/Systems Analyst and Data Architect. As an Analyst and Architect, I am very methodical and logical in my thinking, which always helps when breaking down a problem to people (students) new to the concept. I am currently also studying for my MSc in Data Science.

I'm a very friendly and caring person and have lots of experience of working and interacting with young people in an educational context. I am forward thinking and very creative in finding better ways to explain new concepts to students.

I have experience of working with 1st year to MSc IT students. This usually involves tutoring around concepts not well understood, tutoring to help you start/progress/complete complex assignment and dissertation/thesis.

With the theory, I often look through past papers with the student to establish common questions and work to get the most succinct and correct answer. Engineering is one of the hardest subjects you can study, and it doesn't help when module content is disorganised, learning materials are messy and hard to follow, and when lecturers are too busy to respond to your questions. My overall aim is to teach you to become an independent learner, to teach you how to learn, so that you can learn regardless of the support from your university, and so you can continue learning when you leave university into whatever career path you take.
