With the theory, I often look through past papers with the student to establish common questions and work to get the most succinct and correct answer. With practical problems I would often set a smaller, simpler challenge related to the problem which can help the student understand, and then apply to their own coursework. I aim to make the students complete the challenges themselves as much as possible - it is not my intention to create solutions for coursework/assignments for students to use as their own. Currently teaching Computer Science and Mathematics at Oxford International College Brighton, covering the Cambridge International curriculum for Years 10-13 (iGCSE and AS/A Level).

Last year, 60% of my Year 11 students achieved Grades 7-9 (A to A* equivalent) for their IGCSE Computer Science exams.
This year, all my Year 11 students are predicted to have a Grade 9 (A* star equivalent) and more than 50% of my Year 13s an A* before sitting their final exams.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach involves three key strategies:

- Working through and verbally explaining past paper questions in a certain topic: this strategy allows the tutee to consolidate their understanding of any complex topic very effectively, as it clearly shows if there is a discrepancy between the quality of their written work and verbal explanations

- Getting to know the tutee's personal interests and hobbies, as this will allow me (as a tutor) to draw crucial connections that help them see where a concept is applied in their daily life (e.g. projectile motion and parabolas in the motions of flying balls in sports, data structures and algorithms being used in various online games of today...)

- Frequent questioning to make sure the sessions involve maximum engagement and active learning from the tutee's side: the questions may involve checking understanding, complex reasoning, fact verification and more

Personal Description:
I am a Mathematician and Computer Scientist with 30 plus years plus experience working across both research institutes and business firms. I have a bachelor degree in "Mathematics and Computing", a Master degree in "Mathematics - Numerical Analysis" and a Doctorate degree in "Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence". I am friendly, enthusiastic and honest. I am also bilingual - English and French.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored Mathematics and Computer Science to "GCSE" students and above. I have given 1-2-1 tutoring/coaching to individuals, and courses/seminars to small and large groups of university students and professionals.

Tutoring Approach:
I provide friendly, relaxed lessons either individually or in groups of up to twelve students, tailored exactly to the requirements of my students.
