From the Ages of 14 onwards (Year 9+) I teach all subjects from scratch, with a view to proving why concepts exist and introduce topics from first principles. Where parents request extra work, I can provide monthly progress sheets, homework tasks, and an extensive list of past papers. I sometimes wonder why it took me so long to find my ideal career as for many years I worked in industry and the public sector as a systems librarian and website manager.

In my first lesson I will find the gaps in a student's knowledge. Often a student has a clear idea of what they need help on, but I also find that diagnostic assessment will help find other knowledge gaps the student is not aware of.

I will then address these knowledge gaps with specific tailor-made lessons. At the end of the lesson I use summative assessment to determine if they have improved. In future lessons I will re-test the student to see if they have retained this knowledge.

I use Google Meet and Google Documents which is shared with the student. I create individualised versions of my teaching documents for each student and they can retain access to the Documents after the lesson.
